ik som wat stappen op die dit laten zien
steeds een stapje duurder en onaantrekkelijker

1: het begon met een gratis app met NL kaart
updates regelmatig
Europa etc bijkopen tegen een vast bedrag
met verkeer, geen flitsers
2: je kon tegen een vast bedrag opties bijkopen
zoals verkeer en flitsers en wereldkaarten
verkeer zonder betaling was weg
3: de vrachtwagen versie
4: de sleurhut versie
5: premium abonnement per maand of jaar
zonder premium geen verkeer of flitsers
6: premium plus per maand
zonder + geen verkeer en flitsers
waardoor premium onbruikbaar is en niks meer biedt
behalve wat onzinnige dingen zoals een dashboard cam optie

vergezeld van een irritante gele banner bovenin die niet weggaat: kopen! nu!

ondertussen wel de gebruiksdata verzamelen en verkopen

je raad het al, na 2 ben ik afgehaakt
jammer van die paar tientjes die nu niks meer waard zijn

I've had enough of #TomTom's outdated maps and uninstalled both TomTom Go Expert and (otherwise great) #Sygic. It's #MagicEarth for long-distance and potentially congested routes and #OsmAnd for rural/minor roads.

Navigace pro elektroauto

Navigace pro elektroauto má svá specifika. Kromě obvyklých parametrů totiž musí do plánování trasy zahrnout také zastávky pro nabíjení. Obvykle se o to stará palubní navigace, která má také přístup k datům z auta, ale zrovna naše auto ji nemá a já obecně s navigacemi dodávanými přímo automobilkou nebyl nikdy moc spokojený. Proto jsem se rozhodl vyzkoušet, jak si populární navigace pro mobil dokážou s elektroautem poradit.

I'm torn. #Sygic is a great navigation app with reliable traffic info, but its #EV mode is useless (it doesn't even show the availability of charging points). #ABRP is a great planner for EVs. It can even get live data about remaining battery etc from the car via Carplay/Android Auto or OBD, and can almost completely replace the in-car navigation that is usually part of an expensive subscription. But as navigation, it sucks. I'm not even sure it has traffic information for our region.

Natürlich bin ich aus Google raus.

Das einzige, was ich wirklich vermisse ist #Maps.
Das ist schon wirklich, wirklich gut und sorgt seines gleichen.

Mir würde als Karte mit Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzungen hier nur #OpenStreetMap einfallen, und dort ist es meiner Erfahrung nach so kompliziert etwas zu aktualisieren, dass die Daten im Bereich um meinen Wohnort seit Jahren zu geschätzt >70% nicht mehr stimmen.
Auch meine NaviApps auf dem iPhone (u.a. #sygic) funktionieren nicht ansatzweise zuverlässig bei der Angabe der zulässigen Höchstgeschwindigkeit.

Kdo používá autonavigaci Sygic, možná by jim mohl také napsat, co vylepšit. Já uvedl toto:

- omezit počet trackerů z 6 na 0 (dle https://reports.exodus-privacy.eu.org/en/reports/com.sygic.aura/latest/)
- navrácení možnosti importu vlastních POI
- podrobnější mapy s využitím OpenStreetMap
- pro ČR využívat uzavírky silnic z dopravniinfo.cz, jak to mají např. MapyCZ nebo Dynavix.

Apart from that, the route tracking is great in #OrganicMaps. The other app I tried is #HereWeGo maps. I already used it in the past, and I really liked it at that time. The good thing is that there is traffic data, but the maps are not quite up to date (they have their own mapping data). So I have no clear conclusion yet. In the past, I also experimented with #Sygic and #OsmAnd; surely these are other interesting options to revisit. At least, there are plenty of options to choose from. 😉

What I hate most about being a paying customer is that most companies abuse that relationship to sell you even more.
#Sygic, for the love of God, stop asking me (via emails, phone notifications, in-app pop-ups) if I want to subscribe to a special caravan navigation. I don't have a caravan! Just do what I'm paying you to do.

Přispívání do OpenStreetMap: proč vlastně?

Před několika měsíci jsem začal přispívat do OpenStreetMap a celkem mě to chytlo. Rozhodl jsem se tedy napsat seriál článků o tom, v jakých formách lze přispívat. Seriál ale musím začít tím, že napíšu o tom, proč vlastně přispívat a kde všude může být vaše práce vidět.

I've run #DuckDuckGo app tracking protection on my phone for a day and it's sad to learn that the biggest privacy violators are services I pay for: #Spotify, #Sygic, #O2TV... Shame.

I've been using #Sygic on #Android for automobile navigation for a long time, but been only disappointed recently. There was a huge traffic jam around Ljubljana highway. #Sygic notified me (good) and suggested an alternative route. However, #sygic kept loosing position and while doing so, it kept moving map like crazy. Once it reacquired the position it was often with current location like a minute ago. Also it'd often lose alternative route or suggest bad choices.

Sygic (with TomTom Maps) now available on Android Auto as an alternative to Google Maps and Waze

Reddit user u/jesusbabio first spotted the beta release and shared a screenshot of the Sygic app working on his car’s Android Auto head unit. While the post doesn’t shed any further info, a comment from a Sygic developer reveals that the beta version is now widely available, and users have to follow a couple of simple steps to start using the app in place of Google Maps and Waze.
