Rewatched recently. Once again I say, it has to be one of the greatest sequels ever done. So many are so limp. This manages to be as exciting as the original even though this time you know what's going to happen.
Shout out to Carrie Henn who portrayed the child Newt, age 10, the focal point of film tension. It was, so I understand, her only film role! Which is rather incredible. She was great.

A long time ago, a lived in a place where we had cable TV. We didn't actually subscribe to any channels, but once in a rare while the cable company would give us a little taste. In this particular case, it was of the #SyFy channel. My friend and I consumed all of it, which is when I was introduce to #TheStarLost - a short running, single season Canadian #scifi series from the early #70s.
The premise is simple - our heroes run into trouble in their own little dome world, and discover that they're in fact not on a planet, but being evacuated from a dying Earth to somewhere far far away, along with numerous other isolated domes.
There has been a bit of an accident though, so they find themselves on their own, on a strange enormous star ship, which unfortunately is on a collision course with a star.
It's slow. 70s slow. But given that my own life is currently a little chaotic and somewhat stressful, this is the soothing oil that calms the water.

Es mi resumen.
Y es que El día de la revelación sabe a un resumen de una de las líneas creativas principales del mítico director: su ciencia ficción alienígena.
Este filme es eso, una línea, la desnudez de lo hizo o aquello que hacía en su chasis, la mínima expresión de su cine, y sin mimos. Una línea no en el guion, que se extiende demasiado para contar lo que cuenta (sabía que habría un buen presupuesto). Una línea quizá consecuencia de cierta desgana para vestir la película e incidir en los points que plantea. Parece -por el sucinto desarrollo, no por el generoso montaje-, que grabó el esquema o la sinopsis antes que el guion mismo, y que luego montó extras.
Esta película es un sustancioso paseo por el marco y un esprint por el dibujo.
Hay planos muy bonitos, muy spielbergianos, dos protas solventes que hacen lo que pueden con lo que tienen; y una decisión plausible consistente en dejar para el final la revelación y la aparición (a destacar la bonita aportación de las imágenes de archivo retro ficcionadas o la introducción de esa presentadora de informativo emocionada y shockeada), así como no esquivar asuntos morales y -no o- espirituales. Todo está y aporta, pero se queda aferrado con chinchetas... Como los puntos a tocar de un escritor de mapa o como un escritor de brújula demasiado confiado.
Spielberg parece reconocer que esto fue un capricho porque ama rodar (y se lo puede permitir). Hacer lo que se quiere sin tener que pensar en la espada de Damocles de la taquilla es un lujo reservado a pocas personas, a indies y a gente que tiene el aval de una obra detrás y/o es una marca.
Esto lo vimos antes y mejor, a él entre otros.

I typically prefer multiple points of view when reading. Though I'll admit, I'm getting a little tired of naming your chapters just the name of the character. Feels boring to me.

*The Ark* on Syfy seems to have a premiere date for its 3rd season — Wednesday, July 29th — based on summer release listings recently posted by Deadline and TVLine. No news on Syfy’s official site as yet.

I’d undertaken to organize Saturday afternoon EDT watch parties for seasons one and two before the season three premiere. Input and feedback would be very welcome.
With just 10 weeks, until the premiere two of these holiday weekends, it would be tight to cover 24 episodes. With two episodes back-to-back and some midweek watches, it might still be workable.
Another challenge is availability of the episodes. A number of licence agreements have run out, and the second season hasn’t been picked up in some markets.
With NBCUniversal trying to sell Syfy, Peacock no longer carries the show in the USA - seasons 1 &2 are only available as digital purchases on Amazon and Apple.
Canada - Crave has 2 seasons.
Australia - Binge has 2 seasons.
France - Universal and SFR Play have 2 seasons.
Germany - WOW and Prime Video have 2 seasons.
Ireland - Sky and Now have 1 season.
Japan -
UK - Sky and Now have 1 season.

Comedia = tragedia desdibujada en el tiempo, dicen. Rhea Seehorn, en una interpretación fabulosa en no hacer nada (como el mejor Bill Murray), pone a prueba la cita.
La omnimente némesis de Carol -o no-, se vale de una idiosincrasia operativa astutamente diseñada por Gilligan para dar fondo a la historia (incluso con risibles gags: el mensaje automatizado). Es por el servilismo y la querencia por la vida del nuevo orden que se esquiva tanto caer en la distopía del alien invasor como en el nihilismo. Zosia (señuelo físico del pluribus) es buena culpable de ello.
Estas pautas de juego hacen sugestivos como nunca antes los pasos de Sturka, que transita por la negación, la evitación, la tentación, el deseo, como una mujer. Una sedienta de normalidad. ¿Cuál?
¿Ser parte del nuevo orden febrilmente homogéneo y hasta el culo de Soma o volver al anterior, ahíto de disenso y singularidades? A Dorothy le sucedió lo mismo: aceptar que el mago es solo una ilusión o buscarle hasta el fin.
La cosmogonía de Pluribus es novedosa y soberbia -amén de minimalista, low syfy-, igual que la cadencia de su tiempo, acertadísima: dura lo que debe, por eso nunca será una serie masiva por más premios que obtenga.
