  1. > Hoy es el dia Internacional del Orgullo Puta. El trabajo sexual ES TRABAJO pero es además una actividad injustamente atacada, 100% legitima y única fuente de sexualidad e intimidad para muchas personas. No te dejes llevar por los bulos y el odio irracional. Las libertades cuesta mucho ganarlas y muy poco perderlas. #SexWorkPrideDay

  19. > Happy Sex Workers Pride Day.

    > Sex Worker Pride, celebrated globally each year on September 14, emerged from the global sex workers' rights movement as an intentional space for celebration, self-determination, and community empowerment. While other key dates on the sex work advocacy calendar focus heavily on protest and mourning—such as International Sex Workers' Rights Day on March 3 or the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers on December 17—Sex Worker Pride was created specifically to affirm agency, occupational pride, and diversity across the global community.

    > The movement traces its ideological roots to the 1970s, notably the 1975 occupation of Saint-Nizier Church in Lyon, France, where sex workers revolted against police harassment and inhumane working conditions. That historic strike catalyzed modern sex worker organizing and laid the groundwork for viewing sex work through the lens of human rights and labor. Over the following decades, international solidarity solidified. In 2001, activists marching at the 49th Venice Biennale famously carried red umbrellas to bring visibility to their struggle—a moment that established the red umbrella as the universal symbol of safety, resistance, and solidarity.

    > Sex Worker Pride Day was officially launched in 2019 by the Global Network of Sex Work Projects - NSWP. The initiative was designed to complement existing political mobilizations by carving out a positive, celebratory platform. The day honors sex workers in all their diversity—centering the intersecting experiences of migrant workers, cisgender and transgender workers, and gender-nonconforming individuals.

    > Today, Sex Worker Pride highlights the resilience of workers who continue to navigate criminalization, stigma, and economic barriers. Beyond demanding full labor rights and decriminalization, the day provides a vital counter-narrative to societal shame, asserting that sex workers deserve dignity, autonomy, and equality in every sphere of life.
