#RPGADay2024 Day 5: RPG with great writing.

I have really enjoyed reading Swords of the Serpentine. Along similar themes, Into the Cess and Citadel is really evocative in its writing.

I can't wait to use Into the Cess and Citadel to play my games of Swords of the Serpentine.

I am taking some of my banked extra time from fighting in the botnet wars for the past week and a half, and I am taking the day off tomorrow.

I'm going to read a book (hoping to get a bit further in The Legend of Eli Monpress), do some more prep for my #Ironsworn campaign, and get further along in my reading/re-reading of the rules for #SwordsOfTheSerpentine (which is just a really neat game).

I've read a bunch of #OSR adventures lately, originally for inspiration. But I've come to really appreciate that style (modern/zine). It is concise, graphical and most importantly usable after a quick skim. A skim on the level of looking at what is in it. Not more. Comparing that to the starter adventure in #SwordsoftheSerpentine (most recently used) is like night and day. The Swords one I had read, read again, make notes, reference and counter reference.

25, unplayed #RPG I own?

I own quite a few unplayed #RPGs at this point (I'm working on it). Right now, I am reading @pelgranepress's and @KevinKulp and @Multiplexer's #SwordsOfTheSerpentine and #WetInkGames' #IntoTheCessAndCitadel with an eye towards running the game later this year.

I picked up #FeralIndieStudio and #WetInkGames' #IntoTheWyrdAndWild for my daughter, who is going to use it to build out a #BrighterWorlds campaign, and #IntoTheCessAndCitadel for me.

I think Into the Cess & Citadel will come in handy for making the sewers, neighborhoods, houses, and spires for @pelgranepress's #SwordsOfTheSerpentine. Plus I think it shouldn't be too difficult to convert the monsters and other NPCs (and kind of fun).

A weekend of #TTRPG - ran the #YellowKingRPG playtest on Friday, wrote up the playtest & submitted it on Saturday. Lots of Gumshoe (Feb), Western (March) season prep, very excited to have Kevin Kulp running a playtest of his new #SwordsoftheSerpentine scenario on 18th Feb. Sunday evening saw #PirateBorg, Aster aka Patches went carousing; ended up in a coffin, six foot under, luckily, though hungover, he was alive, crawled to the surface and narrowly avoided being mistaken for a zombie and shot.
