I am progressing well with my Star Systems app, to a point where I made a web page for it. I need to do some more testing, but I think it will soon be ready for release.

If you generate a system with one system, it locks the “universe” to either Traveller or SWN tech level. Then I told myself: why not import TravellerMap data, there is an API for that…

My code now generates not only the main world in a system, but all planets, gas giants, planetoid belts, and all of their satellites, including day length and year length, taking into account tide-locked planets or satellites, etc.

I have a new Stars Without Number VTT focused on the *system* – not just a generic VTT. Think sector generation with hidden trade routes and detailed character sheets. The SWN VTT includes interactive initiative, battle maps with fog of war, and a robust in-game comms system. Check it out:

Rewatching the #SWN series premier. Surely there's no way they had Batel's arc plotted out this far in advance?

#TTRPG friends, what are your favorite Space Opera adventures, modules, and settings published in the last 10 years? 🪐
I'm specifically looking for space opera, not space horror like Alien or Mothership. I know those can be great, but I'm looking for a more Traveller-like vibe with trade, politics, high-tech, exploration, FTL space travel and the like 🚀.

Are there any #videogames that feel similar in style and activities to the #ttrpg systems #Traveller, #StarsWithoutNumber, Rogue Trader, or Scum and Villainy?
Seems like a niche with great potential if there isn't.

@drevrpg Yes, it has been done before. On multiple occasions over the last several decades.
The classic reference would be **Traveller** which used a series of tables to generate a fairly complex approach to planet generation, tech level, and society.
https://www.traveller-srd.com/core-rules/world-creation/
**Stars Without Number** also has systems for sandbox sector creation that people seem to love. Quite a lot, in fact. Plus you can have it for free, which is impressive.

In the last when I'm going to cite is **Starforged**, which has an entire sector/planet generation system, as is appropriate for a game which has a significant portion about exploration.

Planet creation systems have been around for a very, very long time.

#Swn is over and I had a blast. My highlights:
Banshi — the coolest band in #Cardiff imho, with an uncharacteristically emotional set
Corella — possibly my favourite new indie band
Butch Kassidy — the best local post-rock I've seen since False Hope for the Savage
Trout — awesome, unfathomably cool grungecore
Minas — the most fun raprock band I've ever seenBut seriously, Banshi is life now.

This is excellent. Sat on the floor of a church drinking wine and listening to some beautiful music courtesy of Elanor Moss.

Finishing off last week on my last #dungeon23 #sector23 and I rolled a doomed badlands world with an atmosphere you need filters to breathe, uncomfortably hot in certain areas, pre-starflight tech, and billions of people.
How could such a planet reach a state of such environmental disaster? (looks around)
Not wanting just a metaphor I said that pretech that used to control pollution has now broken down but rich natives resisted reducing consumption and now they're past the tipping point. #swn

Have written another horrible planet for #dungeon23 #sector23 - an urbanised, feral world, with < a million inhabitants and low tech level. I thought of BLAME! and a world mega city constantly demolished and rebuilt by robots who don't recognise modern humans. The surviving inhabitants are also implacably hostile to outsiders for poorly understood reasons.
In #SWN pre-collapse tech had a big psychic element. Perhaps here nobody modern is considered to have enough to count.

Nearly finished the upper left hand quadrant of my #dungeon23 #sector23 #SWN - it hangs together better now. The core is 0303, a pretech-terraformed paradise where the population worships but does not understand this tech. Trying to use it elsewhere has devastated other nearby systems -this is why forbidden tech is forbidden folks. The remnants of a Perimeter Agency attempts to stop them regaining this knowledge, particularly in 0404.
A touch of Khaaaan there but nothing wrong with that.

Wrote a post about #SWN sector generation and my plans to use the one I made for #dungeon23, since I'm still sick today and off work but also bored. https://daisychase.net/blog/2023/10/02/dungeon23-sector-plan/

Yesterday while sick I rolled up a #SWN sector. It was really quite relaxing. I wonder if I could do #dungeon23 weeks on whole planets for it. Either a system summary per day, or diving into a particular system and doing seven locations on it (though that would go into next year with 26 systems).
I'm sure I remember people saying they were going to do "sector23" and make a #Traveller sector or similar.

"Es gibt keine Anzeichen dafür, dass Kundendaten abgeflossen und somit in fremde Hände gelangt sind."
hat eigentlich die gleiche Bedeutung wie
"Wir können nicht ausschließen, dass Kundendaten abgeflossen sind."
Statt alles zu beschönigen, sollten sich die Stadtwerke, vor allem weil diese Teil kritischer Infrastruktur sind, Fehler eingestehen und die IT-Sicherheit verbessern.
