In the comments section two commenters say they wouldn't buy this radio because of the '666' in its name and the connection to "evil". They seem to be serious, not joking. 24 December 2025: The Very Low Frequency (VLF) transmitter from Grimeton (Sweden) with the call sign SAQ goes on air. Is it possible to receive this transmitter with simple means in the city of Bern? Yes, it is possible.
Antenna: (DIY) three ferrite rods wound with HF litz wire.
DIY up-converter.
Degen DE1103 receiver.
The signal was weak, but it was still possible to copy it. -

Noise Reduction : BHI DSP Noise Canceling (in-line)
ANT : Cheap Chinese Active Antenna (PA3FWM style)
Antenna works good on current propagation.

Kicked on the #D220 tonight for some #SWLing - heard a religious station, two Spanish broadcasts, and a BBC-type station telling a story over the air.
Pretty sure I’m not catching much due to a high noise floor though. Once my schedule calms down during the semester I want to go drive out and do a #POTA so maybe I’ll bring this radio and see what I can hear in a less-urban environment.

also tuned this Japanese language station, station was talking about Hiroshima, Kanto, Chiba, but signal was too poor to understand much #swling
