4 years ago I knew that one day Twitter's centralized-server model would break down and trigger a migration to Mastodon. I didn't know how or when it would happen, but it was one of those problems that most don't care about until it affects them personally (and it was impossible to get anyone to switch). Ich hab's heute versucht, scheitere aber irgendwie schon an sehr niedrigen Hürden, was die 3 Applikationen angeht, die ich gerne betreiben würde: #PiHole, #Wallabag, & #Kanboard.

I found so many alternatives through #switchingsocial- I hope the original author is OK, and thanks for stepping up! I didn't always agree with some of the choices or the reasons, but I don't think that's any reason to harangue any person, and I hope that's not what happened, and that they are safe and happy. 😞

@swisode if you need help, resources etc with this project maybe set up a toot asking for it, it will be boosted far and wide.
I think this project deserves a proper setup and it'll help many people to come.

just heard about the mystery of #SwitchingSocial’s disappearance! what happened?! I interacted with them here a few days ago and everything seemed normal

Dear Fediverse,
In one of my volunteer services I'm giving basic IT courses for refugees. Unfortunately, the current manual for these courses is completely focussed on Google and Microsoft products & services.
For the new version, I'd like to suggest FOSS & free services instead. So far, I haven't found an email provider I can recommend. It should offer the use of SMTP with Thunderbird and K9 free of charge and respect the user's privacy.

Any recommendations?

I'm trying to ditch Google's PlayStore. So far I've been using Smart AudioBook Player to listen to listen to audio books - and was very happy with it.

When I search F-Droid, the only audio book player seems to be Voice? Unfortunately I wasn't able to convince it to play back in a folder continously...
Any suggestions for a good free AudioBook app?
