"Pete Buttigieg, the Supreme Court, and the Fourth Amendment

In late June, presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg described in a Substack post how he had endured every parent’s nightmare. Following a knock at the door of his home in Michigan, he encountered a police officer with an investigator from Child Protective Services. They asked to talk with him, and he invited them into his house.

According to The Washington Post, the Michigan attorney general’s office is now reviewing this matter to understand how its investigation, spurred by an anonymous tipster, got so far out of hand and whether this was a politically-motivated attack to harass Buttigieg and his family. Nevertheless, based on Supreme Court authority on the Fourth Amendment, this all could have been avoided in the first place. I wanted to use this column to explain why.

Real-estate agents are scum; they really are. Now, they're doxxing and swatting people who complain about them.

Wills Property, a real-estate agent company in Sydney directed by John Wills, posted a dodgy ad a few days ago. The matter blew-up on social media. What happened next was wild. The company contacted people who complained, publicly posted personal/identifying information about people who complained, and complained to the police, and attempted to intimidate the poster by telling them they'd contacted the police and asserted that 'your article has resulted in personal threats to individuals in the business'.

Doxxing people is abuse.
Using the police to intimidate and silence people like this is intimidation and could lead to swatting.

All this was to try to get people to take-down realistically negative comments about the real-estate agent from social media sites.
Now, it's blown-up even worse. Good job. The Streisand Effect means John Wills of Wills Property will now deservedly receive an increased level of scrutiny and negative commentary.

It's also notable that the "Team" page has been removed form the website of Wills Property. Additionally, they've gotten a number of social media platforms to delete negative posts. for example, the screenshot on the ABC article shows a one-star review, but now all reviews in the last five years on Google that were less than five stars have been deleted.
