I'd love to know more about why #Sutro went out of business in the United States. For me, it worked amazingly well. Just floated there, doing the things, measuring my chemicals and giving me data.
$400 investment initially, monthly subscription during the summer to cover costs of new tests and delivery.
Now I'm using #WaterGuru and it feels so much like several steps backward.
It definitely does the things. So that's nice. Temperature is aggregated over 5 min intervals, which is ok. But it's definitely designed for above ground pools by default, sitting in the skimmer overflow. It looks a little strange floating freely in the pool.Still about $400 for the equipment, but tests can be purchased and stored. Probably saved until next summer if they're left over... But that's wait-n-see.

Ok. I need to vent. One of my favorite purchases in recent years was my #Sutro pool testing unit. For a fairly reasonable initial purchase ($399?) and a monthly subscription (summers only; 4-5mo/yr; NA-PNW) of $30 (I think? Test included) I could be fairly sure that my pool was healthy for use.
As someone with an undergraduate degree in chemistry, ADHD, and an unknown grab-bag of the tism, this is pretty important to me. I don't want a giant infection vector in my yard.
It worked really really well.
And they're bankrupt.
At least in the USA.

This product has been fucking incredible, and I'm super sad that I have to go find something else.P. S. No, seriously, your subscription was the kit necessary for the next month of tests. You swap it out and you have 30d more monitoring. My saltwater pool was fucking #perfect. And so easy to maintain this way. Well worth the money.

Hey San Francisco! Saturday and Sunday 11am-5pm, I'm at the Sunset Holiday Merchandise, in the County Fair building at 9th Ave and Lincoln in GGP, with Sutro pillows and cards and more. There's a lot of cool local vendors and food trucks here and it should be a good time all weekend.
