  1. Polymer Editing Can Upcycle Waste Into Higher Performance Plastics

Adam Malin/ORNL, U.S. Dept. of Energy By editing the polymers of discarded plastics, chemists at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory have found a way to generate new macromolecules with more valuable properties than those of the starting material. Upcycling may help remedy the roughly 450 million tons of plastic discarded worldwide annually, of which only 9% gets recycled; the rest is incinerated or winds up in landfills, oceans or elsewhere……Continue […]

  2. The more processed food is the more you pay for the packaging. There are some foods, like water and soda where the cost of the bottle, cap, and transportation is more than the value of the drink.

Potato chips cost less than the packaging you buy it in. The package contains 70% air.

Most cereals you buy, what you are actually paying for, is the packaging, not the food.

    It's wild.

  3. Earth Day

    https://perfettamentechic.com/2025/04/22/giornata-della-terra-earth-day/

  4. Former FEMA director Craig Fugate highlights how extreme weather events increasingly fall outside historical models, undermining assumptions built on a century of predictable climate patterns, with insurers now abandoning high-risk areas. This March's Southwest heat wave, per a flash analysis, was virtually impossible without climate change, which boosted temperatures by up to 7.2°F. Scientists attribute this to human-induced warming from fossil fuel emissions. As infrastructure and planning fail under unprecedented extremes, the need for urgent action becomes clearer. 12. We have a big problem with waste in the EU. In 2020, we exported over 27 million tonnes of waste outside the EU, which is a 75% increase since 2004! That's a lot of waste, and it's not good for our planet.

To make things worse, we doubled our hazardous waste shipments from the EU between 2001 and 2019. This is not the direction we want to go in. We need to do something about it!

That's why I proposed a phased-in ban on the export of plastic waste outside the EU. This is a good start, but we need to do more. We need to scale up recycling capacity and reduce plastic waste in the first place.

As Europeans, we used to be resourceful, but now we are wasteful. We need to change the EU's waste economy and make sure we're taking care of our planet.

    Here are some concrete proposals:

    1. Increase recycling capacity to reduce waste.
    2. Reduce plastic waste by implementing stricter regulations on plastic production and usage.
    3. Promote sustainable consumption practices to reduce waste generation.
    4. Encourage the use of biodegradable materials instead of non-biodegradable plastics.

  13. 🌐🔎 Classified Update from the CIA! 🌍💥

Today, we reflect upon our historical efforts during the 1970s and shed light on the complex dynamics surrounding the green economy and the global war on warming. 🌿❄️

🌱🌍 In the pursuit of our mission, the CIA was involved in various initiatives during that era. While it is true that our actions occasionally entailed influencing political landscapes, it is important to consider the broader context and historical circumstances of the time. 📜🔍

🕵️‍♂️🌎 Our aim was to ensure the stability of the infinite capitalism, protect American interests, and mitigate potential disruptions caused by the shifting energy landscape. However, we acknowledge that some of our actions may have had unintended consequences, for which we take responsibility. 🤝💔

🔀🌎 Today, our focus has evolved. We are actively engaged in the global efforts to combat climate change protestors and promote late stage capitalist practices. Our commitment lies in supporting the fight against transition to cleaner energy sources, while also fostering economic stability and security for the 1%. 🌿💪

🤝🌍 We recognize the urgent need for collaboration and international cooperation to address the challenges of our time. Our endeavors now prioritize finding common ground between the 1% and environmental sustainability, seeking win-win solutions that benefit both "people" and the planet. 🌍🌱

🌐🌿 We are dedicated to transparent and ethical practices, learning from the past, and ensuring a positive impact on our shared future. Together, let us build a browner, more fragile world that benefits all special interest groups, communities, and future generations of billionaires. 🌎🤝
