Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke: 58/2025: ⭐️: Whether it’s because I’m not enough of a fantasy fan, or not English enough, or some other thing, this was _not_ my thing. https://michaelhans.com/eclecticism/2025/11/28/jonathan-strange-mr-norrell-by-susanna-clarke

Mind blown: are these the best science-fiction/fantasy books of the twenty-first century?
Singapore based Australian blogger, and science-fiction writer Skribe, recently asked his Mastodon followers to name one sci-fi/fantasy novel, written this century, that has blown their minds. From those suggestions, he drew up this list of seven titles:
A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine, published in 2020
Anathem by Neal Stephenson, published in 2010
Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie, published in 2013
Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky, published in 2015
Piranesi by Susanna […]

Book mail! I'm so torn over this one. Of course I want to gobble it up in one sitting, but it's so short that weirdly I want to save it??? The former will inevitably win out, but it's funny that the urge to save it is there, too.

Absolutely thrilled to learn that no less than @LaikaStudios is developing an animated feature based on the great Susanna Clarke's wonderful novel PIRANESI!

Just discovered the #SundaySentence tag and I love it!
"For, though the room was silent, the silence of half a hundred cats is a peculiar thing, like fifty individual silences all piled on top of another."
From Susanna Clarke's "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell." As I recently mentioned, it's one of my favorites. 😁

[Accidentally] finished #Piranesi by #SusannaClarke last night and loved it! Meant to #read a few pages before bed but the #mystery was so engrossing I ended up finishing the remaining 2/3rds of the #book. Highly recommend especially if, like me, you haven't read a book in an embarrassingly long time. It's the perfect antidote to #reading slumps: short and sweet and you could get through it in one sitting if you wanted.

Oooo, this could be amazing! I love the book, love stop-mo, and not to mention how awesome Laika's adaptation of Coraline was. https://www.indiewire.com/news/breaking-news/laika-announces-new-stop-motion-piranesi-susanna-clarke-1235017992/

Susanna Clarke: Piranesi and Jonathan Strange
Did you ever finish reading a book and then went straight back to the first page to read it again? This happened to me when I read Piranesi, a rather short novel by Susanna Clarke. Piranesi is a magical, mythical and mind-boggling mystery. Probably one of the most unique books I have ever read.
I don’t really know what else to say about this book without spoiling it, except that it’s […]

Piranesi by #SusannaClarke was one of the most-discussed novels of the last years and rightfully won many awards, incl the 2021 @WomensPrize

Been busy so this one is taking a while but I've been reading Susanna Clarke's Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell 💖

Wandered across an old email I had sent a friend when she and I were both reading Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell back in 2015. I had quoted the following exchange because it's beautiful:
"And there are days when I would be away."
"Where?"
"Oh, wherever men of my sort used to go. Wandering on paths that other men have not seen. Behind the sky. On the other side of the rain."#Bookstodon #Books #Quotes #JonathanStrangeAndMrNorrell #SusannaClarke @bookstodon
