  1. Mornings in Jenin by Susan Abulhawa, 2011

A multi-generational story about a Palestinian family. Forcibly removed from the olive-farming village of Ein Hod by the newly formed state of Israel in 1948, the Abulhejos are displaced to live in canvas tents in the Jenin refugee camp. We follow the Abulhejo family as they live through a half century of violent history.

  2. Susan Abulhawa's speech at Oxford Union

"We let you into our homes when your own countries tried to murder you and everyone else turned you away. We fed, clothed, gave you shelter, and we shared the bounty of our land with you, and when the time was ripe, you kicked us out of our own homes and homeland, then you killed and robbed and burned and looted our lives."

  5. [november 6th 2024]

Comment by US-based Palestinian writer #SusanAbulhawa on the X election :

Today we will find out who will oversee our genocide.

  6. "I speak to children every chance I get and often ask the same question, “What do you want most of all in the world?”

Without exception, the answer is for the bombing to stop so they can go home. I prod to know what then.

What do they want after a genocide? Nothing at all.

A safe home is the ceiling of their deepest desires.

“What do you miss the most?” I stupidly ask.

“My father,” one boy tells me."

  7. Gaza has often been described as a massive concentration camp, but the conditions now are worse than the term implies. This densely populated patch of earth has become a cesspool of raw sewage, endless fields of rubble and pulverized asbestos, the toxic particulate matter of explosives and other military chemicals, water and air pollution, and inescapable filth.

  8. After a tech DemocracyNow tech glitch, I finally boosted the full #DemocracyNow interview with #SusanAbulhawa (see below).

Now if #DemocracyNow would just hurry and put up part two of that interview, that would be lovely.

If any of you have part 2 of that interview, please boost
