I'm tempted to write a standalone novella with the prepper aspects of the story focused on first aid and hygiene needs.
There are many things to consider when preparing for the worst, but what's the point of having stocks of food, ammo, etc. if you promptly die from an infection because you didn't manage hygiene and have proper first aid?

If you run to the store in a panic over a basic supply chain disruption like a port strike, you learned absolutely nothing from the COVID-19 crisis,
I write about worst-case disasters based on real things (even my upcoming "zombie" book is based on science) because I want people to take seriously the need to prepare for the worst. A few days of supply disruption is far from the worst.
Self-sufficiency matters!
