Finally popped the #surlybrewing Twenty #barleywine
Oaky, bitter, big hoppy. Way too many hops, not enough of the expected caramel and other flavors. Not your father’s barleywine, not a favorite.
Leaving bottle two to age until next year…

Cracking this limited edition #surlyBrewing Horchata Darkness 2025
Creamy vanilla and tea opener, sweet milky body, hints of cinnamon, chocolate, and gentle spice on the finish.
A beautiful tea time nightcap!

The last of the #surlyBrewing tasters was the Smoked Porter.
No picture, not really worth one. Hardly any smoke, even after fully warmed. Meh Porter flavor, just disappointing.
There was some discussion of the nose resembling hot dog water…not the comparison you really want.

Light and refreshing with a nice caramel body. First time I have had this one, there will be a second.

Coffee Bender Brown Ale - Big coffee on this tall brown, a pleasant malt and bitter finish
Paired with some simply AMaZInG food, the molé pork bowl and Darkness cake for dessert made for a lovely evening

Darkness with Friends: Schell’s Beer brings us an imperial #stout aged in #tattersall bitter orange liqueur barrels & Evan Williams #bourbon barrels.
Not much orange on the nose but a really nice interplay of snappy citrus orange and dark flavors in a rich body. Let it warm!

2025 DarknessOpen but capped two days, the hoppy spice and licorice have grown stronger for a more lasting finish. Gonna let the other bottles age a while to see how the flavor changes.

Deep complexity, licorice nose, coffee and chocolate with a hoppy spice note and a slightly bitter stone fruit finish. -

Found a spot in the shade. Big big authentic blueberry nose, but not as much blueberry body. A bit thin and the carbonation overrides the flavors. Ok but not a favorite.
