  4. Revising my #market rule.

    "That which is unethical is competitive".

    The crux of it is that if you can exploit slavery, strip mining, etc - no one can compete. So in order to compete, you'll have to do the same thing.

    It's a part of #supplyanddemand in the "modern" world.

  6. If #MayorLurie could only explain how this plan would provide housing affordable to the full mix of household incomes, without trotting out the hypothetical (and misleading) explanations of #filtering and related misleading #SupplyAndDemand, that would be nice. The history of housing construction in dense urban environments puts the lie to those justifications. And we already build more housing than forecast demand for the top 10% of incomes in SF (which are high, shall we say).

    I remember SF Planning touting the #VancouverModel 15 years ago. How did that turn out for Vanouver? Well, not much affordable housing: vancouversun.com/news/local-ne

    So why is the Mayor doubling down on policies that fail in dense urban areas?

  8. CW: 'customers' and 'consumers'...

    @greenpete Interesting point.

    Was thinking at the same time that 'as usual' things do happen over time or they were always about profit just on a smaller scale before - now just a monster version with different levels of it in the modern day (cut-throat) business (that was always there, state being the constant root usually).

    So it was always "business" #extraction / #domination / extended #monopoly of #extraction... though not everyone as a business had access or dreams of it that way... but over time everyone learned all the other #business tricks and used even more tools that kind of messed up their #customers and consumers (we were always both even in uneven levels) with how everything it because too #efficient or #redirected or #impersonal / #imported etc...

    I think major steps to what you said and what I say here were something like:

    2000s = Broadband mass-installed by state / companies. Exploration and habits change.

    2008 = Major Banks crash / bail-outs + effects after happen...

    20?? = Less variation of jobs / cuts in funding by state for "non-essentials" (like a "poor artists" type thing where main tree of funding is constantly cut / isn't there any more making people more dependent or somehow funneling them)

    2010 = Social media really kicking in / dominating even resistant / distant countries

    2020 COVID as a kind of forced #consumption / paying themselves to cause more risk / experiment #damage [=more #business] - and masks / vaccines as basic

    2020+ Various wars (economic also) as part of pulling people's taxes in and overall focus as country to generally go to war (price war, arms, anything).

    Just a quick reply (saw you didn't have any - or did you get some response?)

    It's interesting but overall always we were customers and consumers - just we locked in a lot more which also ties into people...

  25. CW: NSFW: Economics of Fellatio

    Guys, hear me out...

    If you you have a dick, and you want to raise the likelihood of getting your dick sucked, one surefire way to do it is by sucking dick yourself. This is the #economics of #SupplyAndDemand.

    Think of the cocksucking game as a #market. There is a #supply of dicks waiting to be sucked, and a #demand of mouths looking for a dick. When a new mouth appears on the market, this raises demand for all dicks, including yours. Every time that mouth sucks a dick, it lowers the supply of dicks, raising the #value of every other dick, including yours.

    You raise the value of your dick by sucking other people's dicks. It's not #gay if you do it to get your dick sucked.

    Go forth with this newfound knowledge, and do as thou wilt!

  26. In the missing the point department...

    “Among cold destinations, Chicago, Illinois, has the lowest price for a three-star hotel room, $39, which is 3.5 times lower than Worcester, Massachusetts, the city with the highest at $135. Among warm destinations, San Antonio has the lowest price for a three-star hotel room, $50, which is 3.9 times lower than Honolulu, the city with the highest at $196."

    -- via kk.org/cooltools/lodging-price

    The points being missed?

    Nobody goes to Worcester unless they need to be there. There are lots of reasons to be in Chicago, and lots of options for where to stay.

    Everybody wants to go to Honolulu, which is on a notably beautiful tropical island in the middle of the Pacific. San Antonio is a large city, much like Chicago, geographically unconstricted.

    Gosh, could that explain the pricing differences?

    [yes]
