“A few weeks ago, something went seriously awry at Hachette Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, what the publisher calls “unauthorised activity” on its #ComputerSystems. The incident, believed to have occurred on July 18, has played havoc with Hachette’s #SupplyChains and #distribution, leaving booksellers and authors around the country frustrated.”
“Hachette is owned by the French Lagardère Group and is the third-largest trade publisher in the world. In Australia, it also runs Alliance Distribution Services, which distributes Hachette’s own books and those of other publishers such as NewSouth Books and Magabala. Last year, ADS shipped more than 16.5 million titles.”

Brazilian exports to the #US have fallen to their lowest level since 1997. Comparing the first 6 months of 2025 & 2026, bilateral #trade with the US declined by 12.8%, while #Brazil’s trade with the #EU grew by 6.1% & its trade with #China increased by 15.9%.
In the medium term, these #tariffs will disrupt #SupplyChains that are currently deeply integrated, & Brazilian companies will replace their US suppliers with partners elsewhere.
