So, there is a slight issue with the SuperStation One when compared to the Sega Saturn: the audio pinout on the DIN connector is reversed on the SuperStation One which means the audio is also reversed.
This is annoying, but at least I can fix it going through OBS. I've got the GStreamer OBS plugin installed, and I managed to get it swapped over with a GStreamer Audio Filter on the audio source:
```
audioconvert mix-matrix="<<(float)0, (float)1>, <(float)1, (float)0>>"
Alright, finally done with the important bits. Got the scenes finished up for the most part, just gonna give up on chat. However, routing looks good as do the levels. Even the CRT line effect turned out pretty well though it's not gonna be exact. However, it does strongly resemble my JVC and I'd rather have that look on stream instead of the crunchiest/crispiest pixels possible.
Got the OBS overlays mostly finished up. The SuperStation One is hooked up to the PVM via a SCART switch then split out from there into a RetroTINK 5X which then gets routed into a capture card. Still need to get the audio configured and the levels set correctly.
Amazing in every way. Both by WhatsKenMaking in the clarity and technical depth of the video and TakiUdon (make of the MisterPi) on the outstanding quality and design of the board. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEKTp0RCc-U
Loaded up _Wild Arms_ on the Superstation One, and I 100% appreciate all of the extra effort on the analog-side of the device. Looks so friggin' awesome. It's also nice to have WiFi/Bluetooth built-in as well.
I may be unemployed, but I also had a Superstation One delivered today which was a very nice surprise. Gotta say it's absolutely beautiful and has about every analog output imaginable. Setup wasn't too horrible, but definitely had to grab the microSD card image and reflash the card before I got things working properly.
Overall though I like the device. I might stream a game later and see what this thing can do overall.
SuperStation One finally shipping, although others have said their units sat in China for like 10 or 11 days after getting labels anyway. But still, progress!
SuperStation One - This $210 FPGA PlayStation Puts Sony's PS Classic To Shame https://www.timeextension.com/reviews/superstation-one-this-usd210-fpga-playstation-puts-sonys-ps-classic-to-shame #Reviews #HardwareReviews #SuperStationOne
My SuperStation arrived today and is a very nice piece of kit. About two-thirds the size of the PSOne, it seems to be one of those rare product launches that ticks all the boxes.
1. It's built with right-to-repair/mod/expand in mind.
The intro video shows you how to open it up and goes through all the component areas, LEDs and ports.
2. It respects the original open-source project and is compatible with existing scripts.
Although the developer, producer of the SS1 is working on a custom shell to add some bells and whistles.
3. It has most inputs and outputs people would reasonably want.
Including native PS1 controller ports. This was one of the best controllers ever made and the SNAC ports also allow the PS1 lightgun (on a CRT TV)
If you've been thinking about getting an FPGA retro-box, this might be the one to get. The feeling of playing original hardware is very, very close.
Some thoughts on the #Analogue3D:
It is very cool and sleek hardware (see my terrible photo with my original #OcarinaOfTime module) and can be a lot of fun if you want to have a mostly authentic #N64 experience on modern FullHD or 4K screen.
There are a lot of things to consider if you are willing to invest so quite a bit of money into this console:
- Despite being a #FPGA device the system is not open, so no #OpenFPGA in the future which would you allow other to #misterFPGA cores/systems (open alternatives: misterFPGA, #M64 and the #SuperStationOne).
- Some promised stuff is missing such as save states and play time recording.
- The official controller has to be bought if you don't plan to use an original N64 controller. the Wireless NSO N64 by Nintendo controller is not compatible.
- The official #8BitDo controller does not correctly emulate an N64 controller which can be problematic in certain scenarios involving the C buttons.
- Butchered PAL versions with less FPS /slowdown etc are still butchered.
- A few games do have compatibility issues (which are being worked on).
- HDMI-CEC support is broken and hasn't been fixed for weeks.
- Analogue seems to fulfilling orders in a quite random sequence.
- The integrated fan can be quite annoying/loud, especially for people sensitive for highly pitched noises.
- Don't forget about import taxes.
- No bluetooth audio, so your partner can "enjoy" the Yoshi Story soundtrack with you.
- Maybe emulation is good enough for you? 🤷
- Flash carts do at this work, just get/build a #SummerCart64. Emulators written for N64 hardware emulating other system do not work though.
Mein Gerät ist inzwischen auch da. Macht viel Spaß, gerade spiele ich Banjo-Kazooie (während gerade #BanjoRecompiled angekündigt wurde :ugly: ).Ja, ist schon ein cooles Teil. Aber man muss das auch wirklich wollen. Ich persönlich versteh z.B. nicht, warum man sich das Teil holen will, um dann gammelige und teils langsame PAL-Versionen zu spielen. Ist auf jeden Fall cool die eigenen Module reinstecken zu können, aber wenn will ich dann auch die besten Versionen am Start haben, wie es vom damals Entwickler eigentlich intendiert war.
Versprochene Features fehlen nach wie vor, Lüfter kann recht laut werden, der offizielle Controller liegt nicht bei, der Preis und Versandkosten sind saftig, die Vertriebspolitik wirklich beschissen, Versand komplett durcheinander unabhängig vom Bestellzeitpunkt und seit Wochen ist HDMI-CEC beim Analogue defekt. Kommunikation von Analogue ist auch eher so auf Sparflamme. Und Fun-Fact: Einige Eingaben funktionieren mit dem offiziellen 8BitDo-Controller nicht, weil die C-Tasten eigentlich wie ein zweiter Analogstick funktionieren. Sowas dürfte eigentlich nicht bei dem Versprechen von Analogue nicht passieren.
Außerdem bekommt man ein Gerät, dass halt eben nicht offen ist (im Gegensatz zu den Vorgängern) und es wohl niemals werden wird. Wer offene FPGA-Hardware mit #N64-Support will, hat (bald) auch gute andere Optionen, wie z.B. die #SuperstationOne und das #m64
Aber mega schick ist es! :awesome:
I find the #SuperStationOne from #RetroRemake really cute, and for $180 I think it's not that expensive for a PS1 capable FPGA system. If you want to load original PSX CDs, you have to purchase an external disc reader though (for about $40). https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/01/new-fpga-powered-retro-console-re-creates-the-playstation-one-cd-rom-drive-optional/
So, Superstation One erfolgreich bestellt und das Ganze bis zum Ausverkauf der ersten Variante verfolgt. Nach gut zwei Stunden war die graue FPGA-Konsole nicht mehr verfügbar. Ich geh' jetzt schlafen.
