    Platforma YouTube ogłosiła wprowadzenie nowej funkcji o nazwie „Super Resolution”, która wykorzystuje sztuczną inteligencję do automatycznego poprawiania jakości starszych filmów.

    Celem jest „uratowanie” materiałów wideo, które zostały przesłane na platformę w niskiej rozdzielczości, i udostępnienie ich w znacznie wyższej jakości.

    Nowy system będzie działał w tle. Jak wyjaśnia Google, AI automatycznie przeskanuje filmy o rozdzielczości poniżej 1080p i na ich podstawie wygeneruje wersje w wyższej jakości. Na początek mowa o podbijaniu materiałów SD do jakości HD, ale jak czytamy na blogu firmy, „celem jest wspieranie rozdzielczości do 4K w niedalekiej przyszłości”.

    Z perspektywy widza, poprawiona wersja będzie wyraźnie oznaczona w menu wyboru jakości jako „Super Resolution”. Co ważne, nadal będzie można wybrać oryginalną, przesłaną przez twórcę rozdzielczość. Sami twórcy również zachowają pełną kontrolę nad swoimi bibliotekami – oryginalne pliki pozostaną nietknięte, a z nowej funkcji będzie można w każdej chwili zrezygnować (opt-out).

    Jak donosi portal 9to5Google, to nie jedyna nowość. YouTube zapowiedział także zmiany w aplikacji na telewizory. Obejmą one bardziej „immersyjne” podglądy na stronie głównej oraz kontekstową wyszukiwarkę – jeśli rozpoczniemy wyszukiwanie, będąc na stronie konkretnego kanału, YouTube w pierwszej kolejności pokaże wyniki tylko z tego kanału. Dodatkowo, filmy z linkami do produktów (shopping) będą teraz wyświetlać kod QR, ułatwiający ich obejrzenie na telefonie.

    My interests revolve around systems of subcellular organisation, from a #cellbiology and #biophysics perspective. I’m particularly focussed on #MembraneContactSites between organelles in funky cells like #neurons. I use a bunch of #microscopy techniques (#ElectronMicroscopy / #SuperResolution) alongside in vitro reconstitution systems to study contact site biology. The #EndoplasmicReticulum is the best organelle…this is a hill I am prepared to die on.
