Premiera Apple Creator Studio i chaos po niej [felieton]

Wczoraj, zgodnie z zapowiedziami, Apple udostępniło swoją usługę subskrypcyjną Apple Creator Studio. Nie obyło się bez drobnego, ale znaczącego w kontekście strategii Apple, chaosu w głowach klientów.

Apple uruchomiło Apple Creator Studio, oferując standardowo 1-miesięczny darmowy trial dla wszystkich użytkowników. Okazuje się jednak, że niektórzy użytkownicy otrzymują aż 3 miesiące gratis, nawet jeśli ich urządzenia nie są zupełnie nowe. Apple nie skomentowało tego mechanizmu i wygląda to albo na błąd, albo na losowy wybór firmy. Od razu zaznaczę, że do tej puli nie wliczam osób współpracujących z Apple, ale zwykłych użytkowników.

Tak czy owak, po zakończeniu okresu próbnego subskrypcja automatycznie odnawia się za 49,99 zł miesięcznie lub 499 zł rocznie (dla studentów i nauczycieli jest to odpowiednio 9,99 zł i 99 zł), jeśli ta nie zostanie anulowana. Apple nie podało dokładnych kryteriów, jak „nowe urządzenie” jest definiowane, ale wygląda na to, że kwalifikacja obejmuje szeroką gamę ich produktów.

To dobra okazja, by przetestować Apple Creator Studio dłużej, niezależnie od daty zakupu urządzenia.

Pages, Keynote i Numbers otrzymały podwójne aktualizacje…

Apple wydało wersję 15.1 aplikacji Pages, Keynote i Numbers dla iOS 26, iPadOS 26 i macOS Tahoe, wprowadzając design Liquid Glass i nowe funkcje.

Część nowości jest dostępna wyłącznie dla subskrybentów Apple Creator Studio, ale trzy główne zmiany obejmują wszystkich użytkowników: Liquid Glass design, nowe edytowalne kształty oraz sparcie paska menu w iPadOS 26.

Dla subskrybentów Apple Creator Studio natomiast:

• Profesjonalnie zaprojektowane szablony i kolekcje inspirujących grafik, zdjęć i ilustracji w Content Hub.
• Tworzenie i edycja grafik w dokumencie z pomocą AI.
• Poprawa jakości zdjęć funkcją Super Resolution.
• Sugestie kadrowania obrazów (Auto Crop).
• Współpraca nad większymi plikami do 4 GB przez iCloud.
• Magic Fill do sugerowania danych i formuł na podstawie wzorców [Tylko Numbers].

Dodatkowe funkcje beta w Keynote obejmują:

• Tworzenie pierwszej wersji slajdów z konspektu tekstu.
• Automatyczne generowanie notatek prezentera.
• Szybkie poprawki układu, odstępów i typografii.

Chaos na macOS

Co ciekawe, na Macu aktualizacje dla Creator Studio są osobnymi aplikacjami, więc można zachować wcześniejsze wersje dodawane za darmo do urządzeń w ramach dawnego pakietu iWork.

Sytuacja wygląda więc tak, że na moim Macu mam podwójnie Pages, Keynote i Numbers i każda z tych aplikacji ma inny zakres funkcji:

• stare są zaktualizowane pod kątem Liquid Glass i paru drobnych zmian oraz bezpieczeństwa,
• nowe mają nowe, darmowe funkcje niedostępne po aktualizacji w starych wersjach 15.1,
• nowe mają płatne funkcje dostępne po wykupieniu subskrypcji Apple Creator Studio, o których mowa wyżej.

Dla Kowalskiego to absolutny chaos, przypominający dosłownie typowy scam na „podróbkę iWork”. Dlaczego Apple tak zrobiło?

Aby uniknąć zarzutu o zmuszanie ludzi do przejścia na model subskrypcyjny tam, gdzie wcześniej dało im darmowe wersje swoich aplikacji? To mogłoby być wytłumaczeniem, gdyby nie fakt, że na iOS, iPadOS i visionOS aplikacje Pages, Numbers i Keynote zostały zastąpione całkowicie nowymi wersjami, przynależnymi do Apple Creator Studio. Tylko na Macu tego nie zrobiono.

Pixelmator Pro do kwadratu, czyli ponownie – dwie wersje

Pixelmator Pro zadebiutował na iPadzie z obsługą Apple Pencil i nowymi funkcjami, zgodnie z obietnicami Apple, oferując dotykowe środowisko pracy, pełną obsługę Apple Pencil oraz możliwość pracy między iPadem a Maciem, zachowując wszystkie narzędzia edycyjne znane z wersji Mac.

Starsza, uproszczona aplikacja Pixelmator dla iPad/iPhone nie będzie już aktualizowana – nowości dostępne są tylko w Pixelmator Pro, ale tamta wersja nadal jest dostępna. Ponownie – chaos. I to pomimo tego, że w komunikacie prasowym Apple z dnia zapowiedzi Apple Creator Studio była mowa o tym, że nowego Pixelmatora będzie można kupić poza Apple Creator Studio – tak się jednak nie stało.

Najważniejsze funkcje Pixelmator Pro dla iPad:

• Pełny panel Layers z obsługą obrazów, kształtów, tekstu i wideo
• Smart selection do izolowania i edycji fragmentów zdjęć
• Zaawansowane maski bitmapowe i wektorowe
• Super Resolution – inteligentne powiększanie zdjęć
• Deband – usuwanie artefaktów kompresji
• Auto Crop z automatycznymi sugestiami kadrowania
• Obsługa Apple Pencil z czułością nacisku, funkcjami hover, squeeze i double tap

Wymagania? iPad z chipem A16, A17 Pro lub M1 i nowszym, działający na iPadOS 26 lub nowszym.

Podsumowując

Apple zaserwowało nam niezły bałagan w swoich aplikacjach, przypominający ten z czasów przejścia z procesorów Intela na Apple Silicon w przypadku sprzętu. Nie wiem, kiedy to wszystko zostanie uporządkowane, ale na razie życzę powodzenia sprzedawcom w kontaktach z dystrybutorami i tłumaczeniu klientom, za co płacą, a za co nie.

Nowy system będzie działał w tle. Jak wyjaśnia Google, AI automatycznie przeskanuje filmy o rozdzielczości poniżej 1080p i na ich podstawie wygeneruje wersje w wyższej jakości. Na początek mowa o podbijaniu materiałów SD do jakości HD, ale jak czytamy na blogu firmy, „celem jest wspieranie rozdzielczości do 4K w niedalekiej przyszłości”.

Z perspektywy widza, poprawiona wersja będzie wyraźnie oznaczona w menu wyboru jakości jako „Super Resolution”. Co ważne, nadal będzie można wybrać oryginalną, przesłaną przez twórcę rozdzielczość. Sami twórcy również zachowają pełną kontrolę nad swoimi bibliotekami – oryginalne pliki pozostaną nietknięte, a z nowej funkcji będzie można w każdej chwili zrezygnować (opt-out).
