#SouthernCalifornia residents stunned to hear a #BayArea tech company had acquired their local municipal owned #airport from city without any advance knowledge.
A press release was first indicator that the #Municipal Airport in #BeachBoys hometown of #Hawthorne, a facility owned by the city, had been quietly transferred without any performative citizen approval for $126 million to a private firm expecting to make big money on #Olympics related private jet flights etc

Oh look, rustic fascism in the shadows, just down the road.
Back in 2019 our realtor actually showed us this property and asked if we wanted to own and run a business in our retirement.
'A 2021 Wyoming law allows DAOs to incorporate in the state, despite their often anonymous ownership structure. The sparsely populated state is notorious for a “cowboy cocktail” of loose financial regulations and opaque company ownership.'

More antics that will squelch Florida’s citizens’ #FirstAmendment rights, in this case to know what their governor is up to, thanks to legislation that makes Gov. Ron DeSantis, and other politicians, travel records private. #FreedomOfInformation #SunshineLaws https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/24/us/politics/desantis-travel-records-florida-republicans.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

The New Mexico Legislature is aiming to chip off a little more of our public records law. Here’s an editorial using local reporting as an example of why it’s a trash idea, and rubbishing the specious argument used to justify the proposal.
The bill would shield all but finalists for executive gov jobs from disclosure, creating cover for bad selection practices and suppressing valuable news reporting.

Twitter is reversing its 2 year old ban on political advertising.
https://www.engadget.com/twitter-is-reversing-its-ban-on-political-ads-004916587.html
Back when it allowed political ads, it paid a fine to Washington State for not maintaining the proper records.
My prediction is that Twitter will run afoul of the law again, and since it'll be a second, willful, offense, the company will pay big time like Facebook did.
