More #SumUp integration Android vs iOS joy
The iOS SumUp app can process a "Tap to Pay" using only the device from a webapp initiated payment, while Android has to use a linked payment device
Both can initiate a manual "Tap to Pay", the Android SumUp app just didn't bother to build the Tap to pay flow
On the other hand the iOS app doesn't validate the affiliate key, so will quite happily process a payment into the wrong bank account (Ask me how we know this)

So, a webapp can initiate a payment session on a device with #SumUp installed by opening sumupmerchant://pay/1.0 with various parameters including a key and callback URIs. The amount to charge is "total" on Android and "amount" on iOS
Nothing like gratuitous API differences to make integration more entertaining...

A beautiful example from this morning. In #Czechia we don't use #IBAN to send money between banks. We have our own coding system. But(!) it's convertable. My friend tried to change her #SumUp settings not understanding this difference (no, they should NOT need to). And I did for them exactly what an average #AI would: read number, convert, click, click, save = solution.
Obviously SumUp has zero incentives to adjust to Czech specifics so they provide only tools = IBAN. -

Phishing auf SumUp-Kunden sehe ich auch immer häufiger. Ich will es mal so sagen: Mit Bargeld wärt ihr sicherer. Diese Mail ist natürlich eine Spam. Sie kommt nicht von SumUp. Mein rspamd gibt diesem Betrugsversuch aus der Hirnhölle des Posteinganges 28,77 gülden gleißende Spampunkte. Schon für fünf Punkte gehts bei mir ins Tönnchen, in dem man nicht mehr so gern schnuppert. Die Mail wurde über die Cloud von Google versendet. Es ist ein Trickbetrug (Phishing). Support bei #SumUp ist doch eher fabelhaft. Dazu meine Fabelgeschichte:
Eine E-Mail an die auch in den AGB genannte Supportadresse wird automatisch "abgewiesen", Support gäbe es nicht mehr über E-Mail, man solle den Chat verwenden.
Der Chat-Bot kann mir bei meiner Kündigung nicht helfen und verweist auf die Kontaktseite der Website. Dort wird auf den Chat verwiesen. #Catch22
Auf der Impressumseite steht genau eine E-Mail-Adresse, es ist (war) die des Supports. Die Telefonnummer im Impressum stellt sich als Support-Telefonnummer heraus - die sonst nirgendwo steht. Von dort erhalte ich eine E-Mail-Adresse, auf die sonst nirgendwo hingewiesen wird (übrigens mit der Supportadresse als Absender). An diese Adresse soll ich meine Kündigung schicken.
Gut, dass ich einfach nur kündigen will.

Proud that @fsfe volunteer @nicolef went through this whole process with #sumup about the #GNU #GPL.
Nicole’s efforts show that individuals can have outsized positive impacts on #softwarefreedom, and many little steps like Nicole’s, when taken together, can amount to a large enough movement to further develop the #FreeSoftware movement in a positive direction.

The #SumUp card payment terminals seem to be quite popular, also among communities taking donations, e.g. at #FrOSCon.
For @Teckids , I made a small stand-alone POS frontend, so we can take card payments and display QR codes for receipts to customers while avoiding the proprietary Google Play app and not passing on customers' e-mail addresses to SumUp.
