Welp, after today, I have narrowed my Summer 2024 Anime series down to 6 shows.
A lot of shows this season had a good 1st episode, but quickly fell off for me. Here are the 6 I'll be watching weekly. Shockingly only a single isekai. I'll use my time outside of these to catch up on older shows in the backlog.
2.5 Dimensional Seduction
A Journey Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian
Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!
Pseudo Harem
VTuber Legend: How I Went Viral after Forgetting to Turn Off My Stream

Episode 3 of Nokotan is where I bow out. Episode 1 was peak funny, and it's only gotten less funny since.
:kon_Peace:

After checking out 1 to 3 episodes of 24 Summer anime, I have already dropped or stalled (Binge later) on 8 shows.
Probably by the end of next week I'll be at or less than 10 shows for the season that I'll keep up with weekly.

Pseudo Harem is just so adorable and genuine. It's not even really funny, per se, just endearing. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite feel-good shows.
If you're looking for some brain-fluff this season, definitely give it a try. Despite the title, it's truly just a cute story about two people who are pretty much perfect for each other.
Senpai is oblivious though, as usual :btr_nijika_judge:

ATRI: My Dear Moments Episode 1 Impressions
Show looks really good, nice character designs, and an interesting premise around climate change consequences.
I really hate this Catherine character. Been awhile since I outright loathed someone in anime.
Just bought the visual novel this anime is based off during the Steam summer sale... So not sure if I'll watch this during the season, or play the game first.

Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! episode 1 Impressions
This was a super fun first episode. Super Beautiful too. Character designs look great, the girls are all interesting and I like how the MC is the straight man here.
I'm looking forward to more of this show and cast. Bring on episode two!
-
Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World? Episode 1
Premise isn't too bad, but the show as a whole feels generic. From the MC to the rest of cast, so far they're pretty mediocre as characters.
Not sure if another episode will improve mey thoughts, but willing to try one more.

Her smile and optimism: gone
(Although I love the visual storytelling that this dude is literally de-saturating her)

Love is Indivisible by Twins Episode 1 Impressions
I like how they started this series with the episode giving you backstory up to present day on the relationship with the main characters as told by both sisters. Makes the emotional bits land better.
Show looks good too. I can see myself enjoying this. Also I'm team Naori!

CW: Suicide theme in No Longer Allowed in Another World Episode 1 Impressions
No Longer Allowed in Another World Episode 1 Impressions
MC tried to commit suicide with his lover and gets isekai'd by a 1940s truck-kun instead. They literally call it "Other World Selection Truck".
It's pretty dark with the humor, but not super heavy. It has some laugh out loud moments. Even as he tries to continuously die, it's pretty funny.
-
Mayonaka Punch Episode 1 Impressions
This show looks great..from the animation to the character designs.. It's such a colorful show.
Both Masala and Live are very intriguing characters. Masaki being a toxic personality kicked out of her streaming group. Live a sapphic vampire who wants to taste Masaki's blood.
Seems like this will be an interesting journey between the two of them and other eccentric non-human characters. I am hoping this lives up to the expectation that episode 1 provided
-
Dahlia In Bloom Episode 1 Impressions
Really nice first episode. It's a really pretty show with great character designs. The whole magic artificing is intriguing, and Dahlia is a really great MC. She's bursting with personality.
I've heard really good things about the light novel, so I'm excited for more of this show this season
-
Plus-Sized Elf Episode 1 Impressions
Not nearly as funny as I was expecting it to be. Jokes kept falling flat. The character designs look good, but there isn't much outside of fat and weight loss jokes, and boobs... Plenty of that lol
Thankfully it's only about 10 minutes an episode, but even then I'm not sure how much I want to keep watching. I'll give it another episode since the episodes are short.
-
VTuber Legend: How I Went Viral after Forgetting to Turn Off My Stream Episode 1 Impressions
I had been meaning to check out the light novel, but kept putting it off. This first episode was a lot of fun. Seeing a VTubet leave the stream going by accident, then getting drunk without a filter lead to hilarity.
I love how her management and her fully embrace this and it leads to her popularity rising.
Need episode 2 now.

My Deer Friend Nokotan Episode 1 Impressions
Uuuuuh... Wtf did I just watch? Lol. That was full of random nonsense and pretty damn funny. Even the OP and Ed are legit ridiculous. Also the live action deer clips in the ending... So adorable
Definitely gonna watch more of this one if it can keep up the humor throughout the season.

A Journey Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring Episode 1 Impressions
Not even sure what to say here. It's an Isekai with kids tagging along. It's about average character wise with below average animation. Not much on the story yet. Another junk food Isekai show this season.
I'll check out episode 2, but not expecting much more.

I've already decided to drop Days With My Stepsister and Red Cat Ramen from the summer season. The more I sat and thought about it, neither first episode made me want to bother with a second.
My Wife Has No Emotion is teetering on me dropping it as well, as every time I think about starting episode 2, I convince myself to do something else.

The Elusive Samurai Episode 1 Impressions
This wasn't even on my to watch list, but then I kept seeing praise for it. So I decided to check out an episode before bed last night. I must say it is great. It looks great, and even in heavier moments it manages to keep it from getting too heavy with a bit of humor.
This will be an interesting show this season, as I can see myself really getting attached to the characters.
-
A Nobody's Way Up to an Exploration Hero Episode 1 Impression
This show might be my The New Gate of the season. It's not good, its teetering towards bad, but I'm not even mad at it. It's satisfying in the way you just tore up a fast food meal.
If I'm not watching too much weekly, I could see this being something I toss on when everything else is caught up.
-
2.5 Dimensional Seduction Episode 1 Impressions
I laughed at this first episode a lot. I honestly didn't expect much, but it was really funny. Both of the MCs clicked pretty quickly with me.
I was legit sad when the ending credits started rolling because I wanted more lol
-
Quality Assurance in Another World Episode 1 Impressions
This show did a good job of leaving me on edge waiting to see what the twist was, and HOLY HELL... I was not prepared. I almost cried O_O.
It has an interesting visual aesthetic, and the dragon's form when it attacked the village looked like a damn fleshlight with sharp teeth. Don't google if you have no idea what I'm talking about. LOL
I look forward to seeing how this series plays out with what the twist dropped on us.
-
Red Cat Ramen Episode 1 Impressions
This was disappointing. The animation at times is downright bad cel-shaded CG movement, mostly when the human character is smaller in the frame. It kept jarring me when it happened.
It wasn't nearly as funny as expected either sadly. I will say that Saori Hayami as Krishna the tiger is the star of the show.
Truthfully this show should have been a set of 10 minute episodes. 24 minutes just dragged on too long.
-
Dungeon People Episode 1 Impressions
I found this enjoyable. The premise is fun in which its about dungeon administration. The character design isn't top notch, but its pleasing in its own way.
I hope it can hold up for 12 episodes, but I'm excited to keep watching more right now.
-
Failure Frame Episode 1 Impressions
This is some Grim dark edgelord bullshit. Everyone but the MC so far is trash. It's like Arifureta, but not as interesting.
It switches between 2D and 3D animation... The 3D is terrible. I'll probably give it a 2nd episode, or not... Who knows.
-
Pseudo Harem Episode 1 Impressions
It's got some funny moments, but I wish sometimes they'd tone down on the switch between Rin's different personalities she acts out for Eiji.
Looks wise, the character designs are a bit rough, but have a bit of charm to them.
Might be a show to start away from binging. The premise definitely will get old day with the pacing. Not sure I'll keep up with weekly, but we'll see.
