Śląski Festiwal Nauki - bo to o nim mowa - to wydarzenie, które od 2016 odbywa się co roku. Organizowane jest przez uczelnie z województwa śląskiego, które od 2018 roku na mocy porozumienia tworzą konsorcjum. Liderem porozumienia oraz inicjatorem i głównym organizatorem wydarzenia jest Uniwersytet Śląski w Katowicach a współtworzą: Miasto Katowice, Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolia, Urząd Marszałkowski Województwa Śląskiego, Politechnika Śląska, Śląski Uniwersytet Medyczny, Uniwersytet Humanistyczno-Przyrodniczy im. Jana Długosza, Politechnika Częstochowska, Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny w Katowicach, Akademia Wychowania Fizycznego im. Jerzego Kukuczki, Akademia Techniczno-Humanistyczna w Bielsku-Białej oraz Akademia Sztuk Pięknych w Katowicach.
Program tegorocznej edycji budowany jest w oparciu o sześć ścieżek tematycznych Europejskiego Miasta Nauki Katowice 2024: klimat i środowisko, zdrowie i jakość życia, przemysły przyszłości, innowacje społeczne, dziedzictwo przemysłowe i kulturowe, kreacja i krytyka. Ponadto realizowana będzie tematyka związana z siedemnastoma celami zrównoważonego rozwoju ONZ.
Co więcej, po raz pierwszy zostało zaplanowanych nie dwa dni atrakcji, a trzy! 😃Siódma edycja ŚFN odbywa się od 9 do 11 grudnia w Spodku i Międzynarodowym Centrum Kongresowym w Katowicach.
