  4. Food packaging and labeling

So thrilled to find that the apparently nice looking carbonated drink below does not just have lemon, lime and bitters, fruit juice and natural flavours (& no added sugar) in it.

    It contains also:
Variously; artificial sweeteners, intense sweeteners, sugar substitutes.
There are indications that these things change the human microbiome.
    With unknown outcomes.

  6. Supplements
Just realised that my nice cheap vitamin C tablets are sweetened with sucralose.

And drugs com tells me, "... it is not expected to have a major effect on your health".

A single pimple wouldn't be worth getting from this stuff as I value things.
And any major health effect will be unexpected?

Oh good, and I expected all the family's "major health effects" from Covid, through cancer & Alzheimers to hemorrhagic stroke?

  9. The human body's inability to break down #sucralose, an artificial #sweetener found in many zero-calorie food and drink products, is well established by scientific research. The compound is so stable that it escapes wastewater treatment processing and is in drinking water and aquatic environments.

  10. where can I buy #sucralose -sweetened drinks (not aspartame) in #Kona #Hawaii?

  11. Sucralose found in common sweeteners damages DNA, and may cause cancer. Sucralose is a zero-calorie artificial sweetener that is 600 times sweeter than sugar. It is marketed as Splenda and used in many food and beverage products. A recent study found that sucralose produces a genotoxic compound called sucralose-6-acetate when metabolized, which can break up DNA in human blood cells.

  12. New lab experiments on #sucralose, the key ingredient in #Splenda and a sweetener found in protein powders, energy bars and many other sugar-free products, indicate the potential for serious health concerns.

The findings generated some scary stories in popular media and some pushback from the manufacturer.

Our expert sorts out the facts from fiction and offers straightforward advice on consumption.

  14. Update 6/28/23 Headache gone about 10 days after stopping.
Wondering if anyone has experienced withdrawal symptoms after stopping sucralose. I was not a heavy user. The past couple years I drank a bottled lemonade sweetened with sucralose, never more than a quart, usually just 16 ounces, several days per week. It's the only sucralose I consumed.
Since stopping 5 days ago I have awakened with a headache that goes away in an hour or two. Headaches aren't normal for me.
    Thoughts, anyone?

  15. Check your labels.

#Sucralose is a lot more common than I thought.

  16. As mentioned in my sharing of the Daily Kos article “Splenda, not so Splendid”, it’s obvious that Splenda is not meant for human consumption, it damages our DNA.

Best to stick with natural sweeteners, or skip them all together.
