bzgl. Mastodon Instanz
laut Dokumentation kann Mastodon anstatt auf der Domain auch auf eine Subdomain eingerichtet werden, ohne dass die Sub in Erscheinung tritt
z.B.
xxx.social als Domain
troet.xxx.social als Subdomain
(Ziel: später weitere Dienste auf der Domain zu installieren z.B. peertube)
gibt es hier Erfahrungen ob es funktioniert?
gibt es ein Forum zum Austausch?

Đã thử dùng subdomain miễn phí để chạy WebTiles (mini‑site 250×250px). Các host cho phép tạo thư mục .well‑known và file kicya để xác thực: NekoWeb, NeoCities, drv.tw (Google Drive), Cloudflare Pages, Render, GitHub Pages. Những host hỗ trợ 404.html thay thế cũng hoạt động: static.domains, surge.sh. I needed a place to keep some of the occasional #recipes I use, and can't remember, plus related notes. I've kept them all over the place, but decided a simple static site #subdomain from my #blog would be best.
They're really only for me, but I got a little carried away with the Gingham #CSS so can't resist sharing it. Hosted on #omglol's Source Tube #Forgejo instance, and hosted on @statichost
There are still some other notes and recipes I need to find, but it's a start.

Because of the domain name price being quite expensive (more than RM100++ per year), I think I'll use subdomains. `*.nulu.my` (`nulu` in Kadazandusun means hill, although regional dialects vary). I do not feel comfortable or like myself if I use domains other than `.my`, which means Malaysia.

Additionally, you can send an #email to the equally logical address [email protected], which also redirects accordingly.
Ideally, the #Mastodon software should set this up automatically to simplify #addressing and #contact in general.

Alright, I'm hearing that some of you know a thing or two about these computers and the interweb.
You may know setouchi.social, it's my solo instance on Mastodon. I set it up with masto.host so there is no cpanel or anything.
I'm trying to create a subdomain david.setouchi.social to redirect it to a page of my site and also to use for a new Bluesky account. Apparently, I can do it through my domain name registrar (namecheap.) They even have a tutorial, and it seems pretty easy...
Except that I just can't make it work.
I tried with a simple URL redirect record. Not working. (time out)
I tried with a cname or an alias (redirecting to the other domain name.) Not working: ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH (I assume it has to do with SSL, but I have no control over it, it's managed by masto.host)
Do you have any pointers on how I could (in plain English) or is it not really possible to create a subdomain in this domain? Or should I just contact namecheap support?
