Few days ago I successfully configured #coturn to have a TURN/STUN server for in-family calls. But … looks like bots or some bad guys constantly trying to connect to my TURN server to use it for something :-(

Of course, it is impossible, since anonymous access or any other access without right key is impossible. But, there are no IPs of attackers in the log file, even wth "Verbose" directive — only my local and public IPs and my server's hostname :drgn_cry:

Maybe, there is some way to force coturn to display IP addresses of connected clients, so I could ban them all with fail2ban?

Had to open 5060 inbound to get one providers trunk to signal inbound calls (either #STUN isn't working there or some #NAT issues), with predictable results..

Got older version of #fail2ban on this box to yeet all blighters trying to get in - by turning on security logging in /etc/asterisk/logfiles_custom.conf (add entry security_log => security), updating regexes in /etc/fail2ban/filter.d and pointing failt2ban jail to check /var/log/asterisk/security_log (main Asterisk log is in wrong format and I don't know enough regex to fix that)

Also registered a #Voipfone virtual PBX extension to use as an extra trunk (needs contact-user and from-user set in #PJSIP config)

Can someone help me with #WebRTC #STUN and #TURN with CoTurn?
I have several WebRTC components (one server, local), one coturn server (local), one web frontend (local), and one browser (local).

Coturn is eventually just drops:
closed (2nd stage), user <> realm <hub.kerberos.home.xc> origin <>, local 172.19.66.66:3478, remote 192.168.178.52:58481, reason: allocation watchdog determined stale session state

Not sure why though.

There are few #Internet options where I live. Fiber is 2 years out. I may need to use an ISP that uses #CGNAT, which means no open ports at all. I see that #Tailscale and #Zerotier both use #STUN (or something like it) to solve this problem. Are there any pure Open Source tools that can do this? #Yggdrasil is great, but is TCP based, so can't do direct P2P with blocked ports (it can communicate, but via a public or private intermediary.) Perhaps #Debian packages? #askfedi

Anybody have a recommendation for an open source STUN client library? I found https://github.com/alhasanmridha/stun but it is rather large and doesn't compile to a dynamic library so I'd need to vendor it to make it easy to compile. #gamedev #stun

I think the introduction (invention, discovery?) of this protocol (and its associates) is what made all audio and video calling IP programs we have today (there are dozens - Skype, Zoom, Facetime, Messenger, and dozens more) possible.

I remember the problem at the time severely limited deployment and use of programs like NetMeeting.
