Sony właśnie przypomina swoim klientom, że wirtualne półki to w rzeczywistości tylko drogie wypożyczalnie. Z kont użytkowników PlayStation masowo znikają opłacone filmy, co obnaża słabości cyfrowej dystrybucji.
Znikające klasyki i licencje z datą ważności
Sony rozpoczęło wysyłkę maili do użytkowników PlayStation w Wielkiej Brytanii oraz części Europy z informacją, że 1 września 2026 roku z ich bibliotek wyparuje 551 filmów i seriali z dystrybucji StudioCanal. Co ważne, mówimy o tytułach, za które gracze zapłacili pełną kwotę w PlayStation Store. Na liście przeznaczonej do skasowania znalazły się takie głośne produkcje jak „Terminator 2: Judgment Day”, „Dziennik Bridget Jones”, „Apocalypse Now” czy „Rambo”.
Komunikat producenta jest lakoniczny. Firma nie oferuje żadnych zwrotów pieniędzy ani form rekompensaty za utracone treści. Niefortunnym zbiegiem okoliczności – co szybko wyłapali oburzeni klienci – oficjalne wiadomości o usunięciu dostępu do filmów kończą się firmowym sloganem „Play Has No Limits” (Gra nie ma granic), który w tym kontekście brzmi jak nieśmieszny żart.

"Sony is contacting PlayStation Store users who bought movies from the platform that were distributed by StudioCanal—like Terminator 2, Total Recall, and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind—to say that “you will no longer be able to access your previously purchased content from Studio Canal, and it will be removed from your video library.” There’s no mention of any refunds or make-goods for the affected users. Sony simply says the films are going away “due to our content licensing agreements,” once again reaffirming the fact that you are never truly buying anything that’s digital, just temporarily renting it.
