  6. Thrilled to share that my chapter "Using #LibCal Seats to Better Serve Students" is now available in #OpenAccess.

In book "Changing Information Services and User Experiences" (2026), we explore how the #LibCalSeats booking system at #ULiège #Library evolved from a pandemic response into a valued service that improves #studentexperience, supports equitable access to study space, and highlights the power of user-centred innovation in #academiclibraries.

  25. 🌍 Ever thought about doing real archaeology outside the classroom?
Kristy, a BA Humanities and Digital Technologies student from HKU, recently returned from an amazing two-week field trip in Armenia with the #ARTH2110 course — and it was epic. 🏺💥
From digging trenches in the sunshine, finding ancient pottery and obsidian, to chilling with her host family and exploring Armenian culture — it wasn’t just about archaeology, but a completely different way of living. 🏞️✨
She documented the whole journey, and it’s full of early mornings, hands-on discoveries, and some seriously wholesome village vibes. If you’re into the past, culture, or just want a cool summer experience — this is it. HKU students can start signing up for ARTH2110 summer 2026 this week! Read Kristy's full story and maybe you’ll be packing your bags next summer. 😉

  30. When we talk about a VLE upgrade, it’s easy to get lost in the detail: integrations, training, timelines, testing, etc.

But from the student’s perspective, the questions they ask are much simpler.

That’s why a VLE upgrade has to be built around the students need. It’s not just a technical exercise. It’s a chance to make the student experience simpler, more consistent, and more inclusive.

  35. After weeks of struggling with my previous institution, I finally made the difficult decision to withdraw. Despite submitting all documentation for disability adjustments early and following up multiple times, there were constant delays. Two weeks just to acknowledge a form (which included full reports and suggested supports) is far too long. These cases often simply need a conversation to confirm adjustments, not endless reviews.

There were also serious communication gaps: classes scheduled on public holidays with no clear guidance, lecturers not turning up, no way to reach them directly via email, and Canvas messages going unanswered. Even when I physically went to campus, staff tried to help but could not get through to anyone with authority to act. It was disheartening, especially because the course content was excellent. However, I’m thankful that I’ve now enrolled elsewhere and begin my studies on June 23. I’m already receiving much better support and feel hopeful moving forward.
