ah, for some reason I didn't connect that this famous photo of a Galician klezmer band (from the YIVO collection) is of this same Zimbler family from Przemyśl, but of an older generation. some captions say Leopold is one of the violinists, but if so the year may be wrong, as he was already in NYC in 1905.

I attended the Appalachian String Band Festival in West Virginia. You could walk through the park and stop at any of the dozens of old time fiddle.banjo/guitar jams going on at any one time. For ten days and nights.

Billy Strings here. An aunt laid that nickname on the kid who sure can pick. A multi-instrumentalist who is more than competent on anything with frets.

The youngster has a rough start with substance abuse but is now wings level and a Grammy award winning string band leader.
