Major League Baseball has rolled out its Automated Ball/Strike System aka Robo- Umps this season. (Robot umpires have been tested in the minor leagues since 2019)

The roll out also includes a Challenge system where the human umpire makes each call, which can be appealed to the computer.

Each team has the ability to challenge two calls per game. Only a batter, pitcher or catcher may challenge a call, and a challenge must be made within 2 seconds.

Another way to "juice" offense, but I don't think walks are gonna be a draw for casual fans. I also was surprised that the challenge system worked as efficiently as it did, and of course they limit the challenges, but I still wonder if you'd end up wrecking advances in "pace of play" they've seen this year. #baseball #milb #strikezone
