Taken from his album #StreetSongs, the song charted on the #Billboard Hot 100, spending two weeks at No. 40 and spent five weeks at No. 1 on the #RAndBChart. Two other tracks from Street Songs, "#SuperFreak" and "#GhettoLife", topped the #AmericanDanceChart for three weeks in the summer of 1981. The song proved to be even more successful with R&B and dance club audiences.

"Super Freak" is a 1981 single produced and performed by American singer #RickJames. The song, co-written by James and Alonzo Miller, was first released on James' fifth album, #StreetSongs (1981) and became one of James' #signatureSongs. "Freak" is a slang term for the sexually adventurous, as described in the song's lyrics, "She's a very kinky girl / The kind you don't take home to mother".
