  1. The UK news media frets over #AndyBurnham's choice of #Chancellor. Mostly #Miliband & #Mahmood, but also #Cooper & #Streeting.

#Burnham should reject all 4 big beasts.

They are dangerous. Too much clout. Not controllable.

Andy needs a weak chancellor, to weaken the Treasury as power shifts north. Like #JackChambers, who Micheál Martin appointed aged 33 as Ireland's Finance Minister. Energetic, disciplined, competent, & weak.

If you've heard of the new Chancellor, it's a bad choice.

    #Mahmood: She's basically a #Fascist
#Streeting: He's a wholly-owned subsidiary of the US 'healthcare' industry.

There are plenty of others who are objectionable, too, but those two are the worst.

Let’s face it … Streeting is a useless c#nt of a Health Secretary who is in the pockets of various wealthy individuals with interests in privatising the NHS! *He* should also stand down with Starmer! I seriously hope Burnham does the right thing sends him (along with #LabourTogether ghoul #Mahmood) to the back benches!

  4. theguardian.com/politics/2026/. Lisa #Nandy, the MP for #Brexit! I never thought I'd agree with anything Wes #Streeting said, but about THIS, I do. The very least we need to do is ensure that #Britain re-joins the #SingleMarket, & that means restoring #freedom of #movement.

  5. And I don’t think it was just Spitting Image that made me think this.

There were less career politicians certainly. There were a disproportionate number of males who were privately educated Oxbridge graduates. What’s changed?

I think politicians were expected to answer questions in a more nuanced way. Media training was less obvious and therefore the electorate was more inclined to listen.

When were you last entranced by the rhetoric of #Streeting, #Mahmood, #Reed or #Kendall ?

  6. “Starmer urged to sack ‘disloyal’ Streeting”

“Make no mistake; Streeting is offering continuity dead-end centrism at a moment when the public is united in their loathing of wishy washy half measures that benefit no one besides private corporations”
