I predict that #Burnham, #Miliband & #Streeting will follow the usual supine #Blair #policy with respect to any #US #President, including Donald #Trump, "Yes sir, no sir, three bags full, sir." The recent refusal by #Starmer to allow British-based #USAF airbases for attacks on #Iran was the nearest thing to #rebellion that any #Labour PM has come since the days of Harold Wilson.

The UK news media frets over #AndyBurnham's choice of #Chancellor. Mostly #Miliband & #Mahmood, but also #Cooper & #Streeting.

#Burnham should reject all 4 big beasts.

They are dangerous. Too much clout. Not controllable.

Andy needs a weak chancellor, to weaken the Treasury as power shifts north. Like #JackChambers, who Micheál Martin appointed aged 33 as Ireland's Finance Minister. Energetic, disciplined, competent, & weak.

If you've heard of the new Chancellor, it's a bad choice.

I think politicians were expected to answer questions in a more nuanced way. Media training was less obvious and therefore the electorate was more inclined to listen.
