I am pretty strict about this, and not sure who needs to hear it, but take apart your travel mug and clean it well!

Remove the gasket (especially) and replace if needed. (I think I paid under 10 bucks for a set of three.)

Use a pipe cleaner or wooden skewer and small piece of paper towel to clean the inside of the straw---I don't think the dishwashers do a good enough job!

They get GROSS!!

To make our paper straws more resistant to water we of course found it necessary to use an unhealthy chemical coating. In other words, we’re replacing shit with bigger shit. Conclusion? Don’t use straws.
