  1. I think it's a shame that more people don't know the music of David Cousins (RIP) and The Strawbs.

I would say he's basically the Bob Dylan of England, except without the massive fame that waters down authenticity.

    If you like:
    - Acoustic and Prog Rock sounding folk rock
    - lyrics about (then) current events
    - spirituality with an alternative/liberation twist
    - a weird singing voice

    You will like The Strawbs.

  2. CW: Dave Cousins (1940-2025) [cw: death]

While I know he'd been unwell for a few years now, it still stings greatly.

The great Dave Cousins, founder of The #Strawbs, has left this earth for whatever shall come next after 85 years upon it.

His song "Benedictus" from the amazing album "Grave New World" takes pride of place atop my "Extra Chill" playlist; the songs I listen to for regrounding, calming, and keeping myself afloat.

The Strawbs' album "Ghosts" is also one of the most perfect albums start-to-finish I've ever heard as well. "Grave New World", "From The Witchwood", "Bursting At The Seams", and "Hero & Heroine" are also must-listens.

Thank you, Dave, for over 60 years of amazing music.

  3. "Changes" is a song by English singer-songwriter #DavidBowie, originally released on his 1971 album #HunkyDory. #RCARecords then released it as a #single from the album on 7 January 1972. Written following his promotional tour of America in early 1971, "Changes" was recorded at #TridentStudios in London between June and July that year. Co-produced by Bowie and #KenScott, it featured #Strawbs member #RickWakeman on piano.
