I think something similar in regards to choking/breath-play was attempted in Britain before - maybe 12 years ago.Along with back then, for some non-obvious reason, depictions of female ejaculation / "squirting".

CW: C'est un peu long, ça parle des conséquences physiques de la strangulation sexuelle (sans qu'on sache si elles sont réellement dangereuses) et de leur instrumentalisation par les abolitionnistes de la pornographie et les partisans de la surveillance généralisée sur internet.
Ce matin TikTok me montre la vidéo d'une prof de droit du Royaume-Uni qui se réjouit de l'adoption d'une loi visant à interdire la pornographie au nom de la protection des jeunes femmes dont toute une génération souffrirait de dégâts cérébraux à cause de la pratique de la strangulation érotique. Elle plaide pour une campagne de sensibilisation comme celle qui a eu lieu en Australie (Breathless Australia).
Red flag un peu hein ? Je suis allée voir le site de cette campagne dont elle parle et on peut y lire des trucs comme :

Dans leur FAQ il y a une question « Oui, mais si c'est consenti, ça va, non ? » et turns out, non ça va pas, le truc enchaîne sur l'idée qu'on s'en fout de ton consentement, on veut protéger ta santé.

Et partout sur le site la parole est donnée à des « Experts médicaux » sans jamais citer le moindre travail de recherche qu'ils auraient effectués sur le sujet. D'ailleurs aucun travail de recherche n'est cité sauf des études quantitatives sur les pratiques sexuelles des australiens et australiennes (ce qui ne permet pas du tout d'attester du danger ou de l'innocuité des pratiques en question.)
Bref, je suis quand même allée vérifier ces histoires de dommages cérébraux causés par la strangulation et il y a effectivement quelques débuts de recherche qui indiquent que :
- C'est un phénomène très genré puisque dans les campus des États-Unis ~60% des femmes cis, femmes trans et personnes non-binaires ont déjà été étranglé⋅es pendant le sexe, que ~50% des hommes ont étranglé leur partenaire, mais 25% ont été eux-mêmes étranglés. Herbenick, Patterson et al, 2021
- La pratique répétée (ici, c'est au moins une fois par semaine sur un mois) a des effets sur le cerveau qui sont visibles sur une IRM (Hou, Huibregtse et al, 2023) ou dans le sang en cherchant des marqueurs d'inflammation cérébrale Huibregtse, Alexander et al, 2025
On voit que du côté de ces gens la question est déjà tranchée : Il faut interdire. Interdire la strangulation parce qu'on ne peut pas vraiment y consentir, interdire le porno parce que ça encourage des pratiques qu'on juge problématique, contrôler ce qui passe à la télé, contrôler les réseaux sociaux et contrôler les conversations privées en ligne.
Alors qu'on pourrait… Je sais pas… Allouer des moyens réels à l'éducation sexuelle de tout le monde pour apprendre aux enfants, aux jeunes adultes et aux autres à établir un cadre pour que chacun⋅e soit à l'aise de refuser des pratiques dont iels n'ont pas envie, reconnaître quand iels se font étrangler alors qu'iels ne sont pas d'accord, apprendre à les réaliser d'une manière qui ne soit pas dangereuse (On nous dit qu'il n'y a pas de manière non dangereuse de le faire, mais en fait, on peut poser sa main sur le cou de sa ou son partenaire sans exercer la moindre pression et ça peut quand même être excitant)
