-
Genau so.

(Und CO2 Sünden -> #Beton.)

Monetising the great koala national park
"The government estimates the park’s value as a tourism destination will generate an extra $163m for the state’s economy over two decades. The native logging division of NSW Forestry Corporation has run at a loss for several years...The Minns government on Sunday revealed the proposed outlines of the park, fulfilling its 2023 election commitment...A moratorium on logging within its boundaries begins on Monday."
End native forest logging across NSW. Recognise remnant flora and fauna in 'plantations'.

The impacts of fossil fuel emissions are gnawing on Australia's coastline
"Australia's exposure to current and future risks from the sea, including coastal erosion, king tides and rising sea levels, was "very high", The Insurance Council of Australia.
"Sea level rise caused by climate change would mean the issue was not going away, and Australians needed to consider what we valued about our coastline."
"Why a seawall might not protect both beaches and homes from coastal erosion...We'll end up with a giant wall around our beaches, or around our whole coastline. That's not saving the landscape, that's saving the infrastructure. We've got to slow down development and look at what we value about the beach."
Professor Kennedy "said governments would need to consider buying back beachfront land and rehabilitating it, to protect both infrastructure and the beach."

Assets owners "can push for the acknowledgement of systemic climate risks by asset managers, and influence managers to improve their climate practices. Reclaim Finance has analysed how asset owners engage asset managers, and offers an overview of best practices that can be replicated."

Could the stranded assets of the forestry industry be recycled?
We've done Victoria
"By the end of this year, native forest logging will cease in Victoria. After more than 50 years of clearfelling and other destructive logging practices. The supply of sawlogs in Victoria was close to being exhausted, and the state’s logging industry had long been financially unviable."
https://theconversation.com/we-cant-just-walk-away-after-the-logging-stops-in-victorias-native-forests-heres-what-must-happen-next-206596Now for NSW
Logging 95 % of the Great Koala National Park
In Victoria "the harvesters and their machinery were left sitting idle after the government fast-forwarded its intended 2030 phase out of native forest timber harvesting to January 1, 2024 after a court decision last November locked the workers out of the state’s native forests...25 of the state’s 27 harvest and haulage crews have been on VicForests stand-down payments since last year’s Supreme Court decision."https://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/outofwork-forestry-crew-to-catch-firebreak-contracts/news-story/ee6a84bdf66de04fdeea2c7216002dce

"The #CanadaPension Plan (#CPP) is the largest pension fund in Canada and one of the largest in the world. The #CPPIB (Canada Pension Fund Investment Board) had nearly $22 billion invested in #FossilFuels as of July, 2022. CPPIB also owns #oil and #gas companies, #pipelines and other fossil fuel infrastructure all over the world."
Is this how you want your nest egg invested, Canadians? In what may well become #StrandedAssets?

The coal, oil and gas sectors have lost their financial rationale.
From a structural standpoint, two economies are emerging—one based on fossil fuels and one based on sustainability—that cooperate and conflict but ultimately integrate into one fragile, changing energy system.
In this, climate change is increasingly acknowledged and seen as a financial risk.
This fact, in addition to global competition, should have institutional investors questioning the need to invest in fossil fuels at all.
A recent #IEEFA report that's worth the read!
