It still feels illegal for me to change from platform 4 to 5/6 at #Basel SBB without using the overpass, as I haven't got used to the new track layout. Getting on an SBB InterCity definitely takes me out of #StrandbyMode, so this thread has come to an end. Tak og vi ses! 👋

After waiting for children to finish playing on the tracks ahead, spending the night in Düsseldorf and taking another ICE to Basel SBB, I finally reach my home country again. Most importantly, there is absolutely no delay! This is the second time after about eight journeys home via Mannheim with delays of more than an hour. I hope the good luck continues! #StrandbyMode

We have cancelled our hotel booking in Hildesheim, as we would have had to wait another hour for the next delayed train to Hanover. Instead, we are taking the next ICE heading south. This is ICE 205 to Basel via Cologne. There's still time for one of the few remaining 🌱 plant-based main dishes on the #DB @diningcar 's menu. #StrandbyMode

We are not sure whether to board the 15:46 S5 service, which is 10 minutes late, or the 15:56 S5 service. Football and Pride Hamburg guarantee plenty of passengers. #StrandbyMode

Despite the change of train type, almost all passengers find a seat, but our journey with the EuroCity, aka Railjet, isn't optimal. The train staff inform us that this replacement train has got an incomplete service and that the toilets in coaches with numbers higher than 19 are closed, but now all toilets from coach 14 above are out of use. Only a bulle can help! The journey ends at Pinneberg at 15:35 instead of Hamburg Hbf at 15:15, with only two working toilets out of thirteen. #StrandbyMode

It seems that they operate as follows, from south to north: Platform 1 is used by Øresundståg trains to Sweden, platform 2 is used by terminating Danish trains, platform 11 is used by Danish trains leaving towards the west, and platform 12 is used by Øresundståg trains to Østerport. #StrandbyMode

A Pågatåg takes me from Helsingborg C through the rural landscape of Skåne to Eslöv and Lund. It's a peaceful journey in summer weather. The purpose of this detour? Filling uo a gap on my map with travelled railway lines. #StrandbyMode

I'm getting off in #Helsingborg at the back of my train for my next train that leaves from platform 7. That's how to do it: Take the escalator up. If you're facing the Espresso House, Espresso House, Pressbyrån and Pressbyrån, turn around. Leave the station building. Turn right. Cross the bus lane. Pass the sliding door. Turn left. Walk along the bus stands. Avoid colliding with bus passengers' oversized luggage. Continue straight ahead outside the building. Cross the street. #StrandbyMode

I've been here four times already, but I liked it the most this time by far. It's probably also because of the weather. On board the Stena Jutlandica, we struggle to find our way around. Unfortunately, we fail to find any normal passenger seats without an extra fee or that are not exclusively dedicated to bar customers. Having to find our way around a new ferry each time (not to mention other things such as check-in procedures and a manageable fear of sinking) means that ferries and I won't become friends. Anyway, we chose to sit on the sun deck to enjoy the sunny weather and the fresh sea air. #StrandbyMode

Instead of taking the bus, we are walking towards the Frederikshavn ferry terminal. I quite like the access; it's a 500-metre-long pedestrian bridge that leads directly to the terminal. What I like less is standing still for 20 minutes in the queue with sniffing passengers. #StrandbyMode

After four days, it's time to continue our journey. Our NightJ... Nordjyske Jernbaner train arrives in Frederikshavn. There is a connection to Tolne with the Togbus, or you can take the regular Expressbus to Aalborg. #StrandbyMode

Getting into #StrandbyMode is even better when you get off the Skagen Line at intermediate stops and walk to a secluded 🦭 beach, untouched marshland or a moving sand dune.

On the subject of passenger information, please allow me a brief rant: Firstly, why would you choose such a tiny font size for the name of the next stop? Secondly, why use the remaining space for an ad with 'Next station' and the name of a station on the line, in a font size much bigger than that used to indicate the next stop?
Stop abusing passenger information screens for marketing purposes. Provide proper information about the next stops, especially if they are request stops! 🤬 #StrandbyMode
