Highly recommend checking out Hey.Cafe. It is run by Creator Anthony Lee, an awesome Canadian & tech nerd, focused on doing good & who is super responsive.
Why continue supporting tech giants, only to complain about algorithms, have your data mined, & no access to those managing the platform. Here's a novel idea: stop that cycle by supporting smaller platforms that demonstrate an interest in social good & help build the culture on that platform.

As I am teaching a course at present on #storytelling, I decided to use Prime Minister Mark Carney's World Economic Forum speech as an example to my students on how a simple story, told cleverly with heart, can change the world.

Updating the Social Media Storytelling Examples for the students to analyse in my course this term. Looking for examples that are Canadian, from countries outside the US, or if in the US are part of the Resistance. Would love to include at least one example from Greenland.

Mulling this morning on how destructive it is in our perceptions when we use words referencing disabilities, ethnicity, skin colour and spiritual believes as insults. Added to that society now uses some women's names as insults. None of that is okay. We need to start thinking more about our words.

We need to remove the notion of 'followers' in how we approach #SocialMedia, and think in terms of #Community and #CommunityBuilding. This may seem like a subtle difference, but it makes a profound impact in terms of approach, respect, and connectivity.

Closed a chapter today.
It had its ups & its downs, but I am glad I did my #MasterOfEdTech. It allowed me to set myself new challenges, prioritize goals with #StoryToGo (including building our own #lms explore #SustainableFunding Pathways, speak on new topics internationally, explore how to shape #disability within my #storytelling & how we can be more #accessible in our storytelling, & dream up new ways of merging stories & education with technology (from #podcasting to #XR).

Even better when it happens with a place close to our heart, like Leilani Kai Resort is.

#HappyDays! Last of the marks for my Master of Educational Technology from UBC is finally official.
Just did the cha cha around the house with Linus the Golden Retriever & Ella the Tortie Terror in tow! A little excited as they took a few weeks to process the final grade on my last directed studies course.
I now have my MET with a focus in #ImmersiveStorytelling, #SustainableFunding, #OpenEducation & #Accessibility.

Some of the most interesting examples of #AugmentedReality that I've seen have been in #art. We explore one such #AR Art Exhibition in the #StoryToGo #ExtendedReality case study on Seeing The Invisible.
This exhibit demonstrated the thought provoking magic that a curated location based AR walk can created, but also the importance of user testing in ensuring the best possible experience.
