  3. Another one I considered was Dire Straits Telegraph Road. I always laugh at the live version of this - very delicate, very quiet music being cheered along to by basically a massive drunk pub crowd

  4. My immediate thought for the #StoryTimeVortex was Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Iron Maiden, but a) it's over 13 minutes long and b) I had problems finding it as an MP3 for sale. Resolved to buy the CD of the album it's off but ran out of time to find it in a local record shop.

Anyway here's the live version in case you have time to waste youtube.com/watch?v=Qb30ZMeNh8I

So, that was the #StoryTimeVortex that was, and a mighty fine set of tales it was. Many thanks to everyone for chipping in tunes and to @saucer for the splendid stitching and blending. Next week we're back to regular programming with @woj in the chair. Until then, good to see everyone, thanks for stopping by, hoping for a mighty fine week for y'all.

  9. @david that particular pick seemed a bit lengthy/intense to take in all at once, and turning it into a thread seemed like it might be win-win? i hope the submitter doesn’t mind… #listeningClub #storytimeVortex

  10. from 1957, that’s Odetta from her third album with a surprisingly dark little ditty called The Fox #listeningClub #storytimeVortex

  11. the late great Grant McLennan (solo here, but from the amazing songwriting duo, with Robert Forster, called The Go Betweens) with Black Mule #listeningClub #storytimeVortex

  12. @saucer
Maybe because of the wide and rambling range submissions possible for this theme?

  13. I wonder if anyone has chosen a purely instrumental track for this #StoryTimeVortex ?

I had one in mind, but it's a hard thing to figure out if other people would make the story association with a track without words

  14. @spiny and this one has reminded me of a much more reasonable length track I could've chosen for this #StoryTimeVortex
