  1. Shifter Fic Story idea:

Female protagonist who is... let's just say a "Wolf Enthusiast"... is attempting to track down what she thinks is a "Lycan Colony" finds herself accidentally getting involved in the politics, love lives, and general world of a bunch of moss people.

It turns out the shady guy who gave her the information had a bit of an accent and she couldn't tell the difference between "Lycan" and "Lichen"

  2. Looking at my old story ideas, found one from 2016. What if the indigenous people of the americas discovered dragons a few hundred years before Columbus? The first season would be their first enounter with them, and learning their biology. The second season would be taking over the rest of the continent , and the third seaon would be Columbus and the Europeans arriving to find the coastline patrolled by women riding dragons.

  3. Hm… a novel about a modern day Scarlet Pimpernel. It would be appropriate.

  4. Book idea for someone who wants it:

Bridge to Nowhere - a speculative horror story about a man who becomes convinced that an abandoned bridge, that only has half of it remaining from a devastating flood, actually leads somewhere amazing. The bridge, which he passes every day on his way to cross the wide river over a new bridge he was apart of building, haunts his dreams.

It ends with him walking to the end, and cuts to a news article: "A local man missing".

  5. Is This Anything?

A fantasy city like Venice, but instead of sinking under rising water, it sits atop a powerful magical leyline. The leyline makes the city famous and prosperous, but over time it destabilizes reality itself, slowly dragging the city "under" in a far stranger way than water ever could.

And “under” doesn’t just have to mean water. It could be under time (slipping out of sync), under dreams (becoming surreal), under shadow (fading into a dark reflection), under memory (vanishing from minds), under silence (losing sound itself), under magic (mutating uncontrollably), or something stranger still.

  6. Is This Anything?

A tragedy about a man whose superpower is permanently gaining the powers of anyone he touches. Two possible endings:

    1. He meets someone whose power is immunity to superpowers. He touches them, loses everything, and is finally free.

    2. He absorbs the power of someone cursed with uncontrollable invisibility. He descends into madness, slowly forgotten by everyone he loves, until even he isn’t sure he still exists.

Had a thought about how are human civilization that spent several hundred Millennia in space with no artificial gravity might adapt.

We saw the most obvious adaptations in The Expanse. Longer less dense bones. Unable to handle Earth Normal gravity without significant support. But let's take that further.

Would a being so sensitive to gravity physically develop a sort of sense of gravitational pull and strength as almost a defense or survival mechanism? Like how a bird has a built in compass.

If so could they use this sensitivity as a bird would, to aide navigation?

    Thoughts in my head.

  8. In the near future, the USA becomes the only country still reliant on fossil fuel extraction after effectively enshrining the industry into law. The country still hordes its tons of petroleum, securing the resource after every other country in the world successfully transitioned towards renewables. This leaves the rest of the world forced to invest in carbon capture technologies to negate the CO2 still being pumped into the air by the only country left standing in the past.

  9. Just had a story idea (based on another story with a similar concept that I never finished but may finish, which would make this a same universe series I guess with crossover potential???) where Mastodon, 4chan, Twitter, and Reddit are anime girls and in some kind of an office or something like that.

"Office of Chaos" was a name I had for it. I don't know if I'll ever get around to it, but it's a good idea nonetheless.

  10. If there are any #SciFi authodons out there who need an idea for a strange encounter, how about a nuclear powered man-hole cover? (story in alt-text)

How do you select ideas from all the ones floating around?

Well, it isn't easy. I have an active imagination, and for my stories, to have my mind shift about daydreaming about things gets tedious. Usually I toss it around as a #storyidea on here or Twit for further reference.

[My problem is getting the inspiration to put ideas into paper! I lost my abilities for writing, and now it feels like a slog. It's not right.]

  12. Plot idea up for grabs: Time travel is real, and you have noticed someone going around and making changes, and you fight them.

Turns out: Someone had already made changes, and that person was just trying to fix the timeline again.

Optional plot twist: You were actually not supposed to exist and now have to decide between restoring the "correct" timeline or surviving.

  13. I was idly scrolling through my screencaps, and found this little plot bunny. Will gladly help with background info/research if anyone picks it up.

(I never saved the rest of the text, but I suspect it's dried apricots I'm thinking of.)

  14. If you need ideas for a comic or a novel/short story I just tripped over Bummer and Lazarus - famous stray dogs of 19thC San Francisco

  15. I would read a 2000 word profile on whoever is making these adorable signs and taping them on trash cans in Cleveland Park and Forest Hills. Who will write it? #clevelandPark #Foresthills #journalism #storyIdea
