Slight upside. Mam get an extra tenner in for Bereaved Partner's pension and an extra fiver on the fuel allowance. It doesn't help that the "fuel" has gone up more than a fiver in the last year... so that all cancels out.
Thankfully, the tree that fell with a couple of inches from the house during #StormEowyn in January is getting some use. #noxp

Single species forestry played havoc with the power lines during #StormÉowyn
However, forestry is a financial asset and a business so the government has roadside trees in their sights instead.
This is more than the usual "something must be done, so let's do something" reaction. During government formation talks the regional group had sought a roadside tree felling scheme, but this was seen as prohibitively expensive. They will get it now.
