It's been an interesting day or so, here. A storm has left neighbouring towns flooded, the local river is as full as I have seen it for a long time, and even the road ascending up the valley from here was impassible last night.

Apparently, being unable to do some of my normal things makes my mind go weirder.
Language geek moment:
Claudia, the name of the current Storm, is perfect.
This is because, in German, Claudia is pronounced kl-owdi-a, or... "Cloudier". :D

We have been to #YFenni today and were saddened to see that the lower town has been flooded due to excessive water run-off from nearby roads and streets.
Whether the drains or culverts were blocked or whether it was just the immense volume of rain, it was awful to see that 2 local towns had fallen victim to #stormclaudia this weekend.
One of the local café staff team told us that staff in the shops opposite had been up through the night, moving stock and then clearing up after the floods.

The bad news is, it's been raining all day.
The good news is, the local supermarket now know where all the leaks in their roof are, ahead of proper winter.

The #Sheep have been enjoying their Rammaster in the shed, out of the wind and rain of #StormClaudia
They have had a bad week, with a vets visit a week ago on account of their feet, antibiotics, anti inflammatories, and daily pedicures and antiseptic.
Today’s vet visit showed an improvement, but still more to do. They have been shut in all week (to help their feet dry). I think they want to get wet and muddy.

@OccasionalDucks I planned not to travel today and that didn't change. We've withstood the #StormClaudia direct effects OK so far, but all the power fluctuations have been a pig and seem to have maimed my little raspberry pi (see timeline) despite it being connected to a surge-protected outlet.

It has been raining all day, currently lashing against my window. Less than a month ago, Abbey Lake was half dried out. It had begun to fill but was still a foot below the outlet last week. Since the ford is now overtopping the road, I'm hoping enough water is getting into the lake to fill it and start cleaning some of a hot summer's muck and algae out of it! #StormClaudia

If the authorities want people to take more heed of storm conditions, they have to not only better inform but *reliably* inform.
Exaggerated claims only lead to the opposite of what is being attempted.
The warnings about 70mph gusts for Anglesey were always a bit suspect for Claudia - and were not realised; they barely exceeded 50mph.
