Don't forget there are many different types of AI and the LLM type that is being sold to us now, it NOT a good one for solving problems.
Today's AI is good for pattern identification only. It has no reasoning power. Any reasoning you see in the results is an echo stolen from some human mind.
Using the pattern matching to identify things is a valuable tool for focused, specific tasks. But it is not suited for the things they tell us to use it for!

I really didn't need another reason for detesting the slop shops. I have enough already.
But as someone with an almost lifelong and emotional relationship to physical books, this makes me furious!

Management would not long after attend a conference and be sold on how LLMs would change everything we know about knowledge work, revolutionizing the workplace. This then led to a mandate to make use of AI tools or be left behind.
This seems to be a common story. Why are c-suite types so ready to believe that people who have a vested interest in selling them AI tools know better than their own team of professionals who actually understand how the work gets done? It's so frustrating. #AI #stopTheSlop

Yet there are still people around me (who must have heard at least one of my rants) telling me that offering advice to slop shops could be such a "great opportunity" for my business.
Haven't I made myself clear enough? Do I have to be even more hostile? Isn't it a sign that I refuse to call the slop machines "AI" in conversations?

The technology is built on massive privacy violations, no matter where it's running! If someone claims that running their slop machine locally is privacy-friendly, their notion of who has a right to privacy is obviously limited to themselves!

Take a glass of water. Pour it into the sea. Extract the same water from the sea again.
The same goes for our data once they're fed to a slop machine. There's nothing privacy friendly about the complete loss of control over our information. Running a slop machine locally doesn't change anything.
