  1. 🔥 We've come this far. Now we finish it.

Tomorrow they vote. Today is the final countdown! ⌛

We're in a strong position :blobcatstrong: Support for ChatControl is fading. Countries are shifting. The pressure worked. But it's not over - not yet :blobcatsad:

This is the last day to act 👊 And even if our voices don't change minds now, they still matter. Because this fight isn't just about stopping one proposal - it's about leaving a trace. A warning. A record that we were here, and we didn't stay silent :rebel:

So when the next version of this idea shows up - and it will - we'll already have the words 📜 The toots. The proof. We'll boost. We'll remind. We'll fight again! ✊

Right now, it's about numbers. Not persuasion. Even the default message from fightchatcontrol.eu is enough :mail_smirk:
But if you can - boost the toots that hit hardest 🔁
Like the ones that speak truth ⭐
Show them we're still watching :eyes_happy:

⚖️ Because these are our rights. And rights must be defended - always!

This is symbolic. But symbols matter. Especially when they're loud 🌪️

And to prove I'm not just asking - here are screenshots of the message I sent to every MEP in every country

    Let's finish this. Together! :fist_paw:

  2. @Natanox @alex Thanks for expanding the topic - it's important that we're talking about these risks. I just want to clarify one thing: I didn't forgot about OS-level scanning or supply chain attacks. I simply didn't include them because that wasn't the point of my toot 🎯

🧐 The question was: What will you do if the EU actually introduces ChatControl? Not: What will you do if the EU becomes an authoritarian regime with full digital surveillance? That's a big difference, and I deliberately focused on what is a real threat right now :demon:

I'm not denying that OS-level scanning or supply chain manipulation are possible. On the contrary - I think they're real risks that we should keep an eye on :eyes_squint: But in my opinion, those are much harder to implement, especially in the context of the EU.

The European Union 🇪🇺 is not a country, but an economic and political organization with limited powers. Even China 🇨🇳 - despite all its control - doesn't have full surveillance at the hardware and software level. And if the EU ever tried to reach that level, it would take many years ⏳

That's why I believe the most important thing right now is to stop ChatControl in its current form - the obligation to scan messages on social platforms 📱 This is a concrete proposal that could be passed soon. And that's what needs our attention.

If we focus now on worst-case scenarios that, at this moment, aren't realistic in the EU, we might miss the chance to stop something simpler - but just as dangerous - from being implemented without resistance 🚫:rebel: And that could be the first step toward something worse.

Again - I'm not dismissing your concerns. These are important topics that deserve discussion - maybe even in a separate thread :mastodon: But in the context of my toot, I wanted to focus on what I would do and what we could do together if this really gets passed 🤝

Anyway, thanks for the comments - I'm glad my post sparked a response. I hope that even with different perspectives, we can still work together 💪 Because only together do we have a chance to make a difference ✊

  3. @Natanox I won't sit and watch if ChatControl becomes real 🔐 I'm not okay with this kind of surveillance, and I'll do whatever I can to help people get access to real encrypted communication - no backdoors, no compromises.

For me personally, I don't think it would change much :ablobcatwink: I download apps directly from developers, skipping app stores whenever I can, so it's not that easy to block me. And even if they try, we still have Tor, VPNs and other ways to bypass censorship 🛡️ Plus, the tools I use have already said they won't cooperate with the EU - they'd rather leave the market than break their principles. That means we won't end up in a situation where messages get scanned on one side.

:blobcatsadpats: Of course, it won't be that easy for people I talk to. Some won't want to deal with the hassle, others will think installing @signalapp, etc. in a semi-legal way is too risky, and iPhone users will have a hard time working around the system :apple_inc: But that doesn't mean it's impossible. It just means we need to help - explain things, support each other, find workarounds 🤝

If this law really happens, I'm not backing down 💪 I'll support any initiative that fights it. And I'll try to organize with people who share my values, because I know we're stronger together. This isn't just about me - it's about everyone who doesn't want to live in a world where every message is suspicious and privacy is a luxury :pink_money:

We won't give up that easily. And we definitely won't stay silent ✊

  4. Starting the day at #FNF25. People are sharing impressions of the digital rights debates in different countries. And one thing is clear: #ChatControl is on the agenda everywhere.
Let's keep up the pressure together and demand that our right to privacy is respected!
    #StopScanningMe #FreedomNotFear

  5. @chatcontrol The only good thing is that some countries moved from supporting to undecided. The bad thing? It's not opposing❗Which means this is likely just a pause - a temporary shift before they slide back into support. We cannot let that happen! 🚨

And while my words might sound like nothing has changed - that this is just a formality - it's actually the opposite. This is a sign. A chance. Proof that pressure works 💥 That countries now prefer to show support in the quietest way possible 😶

But it also means they're afraid :neocat_scream_scared: They know we're watching :eyes_happy: They know we're paying attention. And that means we can influence their final decision. Because if this law passes loudly, publicly, and visibly - people won't vote for the same representatives again. And that would mean the very people who pushed this law would have to live under it themselves 🔁

So I'm asking you - use this moment! ⏰ Do something. Anything! They won't move forward if there's a real risk of falling into their own trap.

You can contact your MEPs. You can reach out to local media and ask them to cover this. And if you have the means - organize a protest. If one happens near you - go! This is likely one of the last chances to act :fist_paw:

Because if we don't, the monster won't just knock. It will come for us all :demon:

  6. The final hours. The last chance. But not the last fight.

Today, 🇩🇪 Germany said NO to ChatControl 💥 This could be the turning point 🔄 But it is not the end.

If tomorrow we manage to block this proposal - it will be a victory 🎉 But digital freedom does not defend itself. It must be protected. Every day. In every decision. In every update. In every voice 📢

Now is the time to do everything that is still left:
    - Write to your MEP :protonmail:
    - Share information 🔁
    - Mobilize others 🤝
    - Do not stay silent 🤐

Because even if we win tomorrow - it is only the beginning. Because even if we lose - it is not the end.

Freedom does not vanish loudly. It disappears quietly :ghosty: Unless we defend it ✊

  7. For months now, whispers have turned into a roar :neocat_scream_angry: about a certain EU proposal. At first, it sounds like a noble cause - protecting children from harm online 👶🛡️ Who could argue with that?

But this is no ordinary mission. This is the turning point 🔄 A moment where the digital realm risks falling into a shadow :ghosty: A plan that demands all our private conversations be scanned :eyes_happy: No suspicion. No crime. No reason. Just everyone. All the time ⏰

Imagine a system powerful enough to scan every message, every image, every whisper - on every device, for every person 📱💻 It doesn't need physical access or a noisy presence. It runs silently in the background, all the time :ghosty:

It was created to protect 🛡️ But its effectiveness is uncertain, and privacy is seriously compromised 🔓 Instead of focusing on real threats, it treats everyone the same - as if risk came from simply being online 🌐

A digital weapon built before anyone can understand its consequences ⚠️ Like a Death Star - not made of kyber, but of code :empire: Created in the name of safety, but capable of something far more dangerous ☠️

Officially, this proposal is called CSAR (Child Sexual Abuse Regulation) 📜, but most of us know it as ChatControl :mail_smirk: And that's no accident - the latter name more accurately reflects what this system really is and the consequences it brings :eyes_happy:

If passed, it will mark the end of private digital communication in the EU 🚫:signal: And if it happens here, it can happen anywhere 🌍 Because what is accepted in one democracy can quickly become the norm in others. Europe often sets the standards others follow 🇪🇺 And the world is watching 👁️

This proposal changes the rules ⚖️ It weakens encryption 🔐, the very foundation of secure communication. When encryption is weakened, every message becomes vulnerable to interception :hacked:, and privacy is no longer guaranteed. When privacy disappears, democracy crumbles with it 🏛️⚠️ The consequences do not end there - surveillance will become part of daily life :signal: :eyes_happy:, and control over our digital world will only grow stronger.

I was born into a free internet 🌐 I want to die in one too 🗽

This proposal breaks fundamental rights 🚨:
    - the right to private communication (Article 7) :signal:
    - the right to data protection (Article 8) 🔒
    - the presumption of innocence ⚖️
    - the principle of proportionality ⚖️

This is not a debate over ideology 🚫🗯️ This is a matter of principle 🔥

To the @EUCommission: I know your intentions are good 🙏 But history does not judge intentions. It judges consequences :blobcatgrimacing: You want to protect people 🛡️ But you may end up building something that will be used to control them :neocat_devil:

Don't build a machine you yourselves would fear :neocat_scream_scared: You will not be remembered for good intentions - but for what you leave behind 👣 Think about how it will affect us all. Choose security, not surveillance. 🚫:eyes_happy: This is your moment ⏳ Don't waste it.

To everyone else: You don't have to be from Europe 🇪🇺 to care :neocat_heart: When harmful laws pass without resistance - the impact is felt everywhere 🌎 We are citizens of one digital world 🌐 And in that world, staying silent comes at the highest cost 🤐

Freedom does not die loudly. It disappears - quietly :ghosty: - unless we stop it :fist_paw:

  8. The EU Commission FINALLY admits *on record* that its #CSARegulation proposal would 👏break 👏 encryption, as Vera Jourova's comments at @EDPS Summit. This contradicts 3 years of @YlvaJohansson 's : "#CSAR doesn't break encryption."

    #ChatControl #EDPS20 #StopScanningMe

  9. The European Commission often speaks about tackling disinformation. Researcher Danny Mekić examined the transparency reports from the birdsite & found that the @EU_Commission's #DGHome engages in #microtargeting, based on prohibited sensitive categories such as targeting / excluding people based on which religious group they belong to and that the Commission uses these methods to actively spread #disinformation to promote #ChatControl.

What do @EC_Commissioner_Breton and @EDPS say about that?

  10. During a hearing in the German parliament, ALL experts spoke out against #chatcontrol. Share the video and sign the petition (civicrm.edri.org/stop-scanning) to show that we stand united against mass surveillance. #StopScanningMe #btADI @edri @Chatgeheimnis

#StopScanningMe #btADI #ChatkontrolleSTOPPEN
