And now, Del Toro, Netflix, and Gobelins establish a new stop mo studio to experiment with, and develop the art form.

I am a bit conflicted. I am noooot entirely sure the animated segments (the plane & sandworm stuff) are truely #StopMotion. Looks like CG FoStopMo. The best IMDB can give me on #Animation is One Of Us, a VFX firm. They did some stuff on Wendell & Wild, but for VFX. Not sure.
One of the many great things about the 80's movie is the #StopMo sandworms. And was looking forward to seeing that again here. Especially as Burton is such a supporter of the art form. It would suck if they passed on that.

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio came out on Netflix this weekend! It’s a gorgeous stop-motion film, I really loved it.
Charming, full of heart, great performances, nuanced animation…just wonderful. Very much GDT’s signature, with childlike wonder and realities of death against the backdrop of Mussolini’s fascist Italy.
Plus it was animated here in PDX!
