Today is world day for the end of fishing. These are some of my current works in progress depicting the wrecks of fish trawlers and ruins of companies that make profit from the exploitation of marine animals.
The series is titled "Versenkung" (sinking).

L214 porte plainte contre l'État pour inaction des services vétérinaires
Un incendie a ravagé une partie de l'élevage intensif de cochons situé à L'Aspizière, en Vendée, commune de La Boissière-de-Montaigu (85600), vendredi 17 janvier. Le feu a été maîtrisé en fin de journée.
Aucune intervention des services vétérinaires n'a été organisée durant tout le week-end alors que des dizaines d'animaux survivants, gravement blessés, agonisent toujours dans des conditions insoutenables, entourés des cadavres calcinés de leurs congénères.
Ce drame met en lumière les défaillances criantes des services publics en charge de la « protection animale », incapables de se mobiliser quand l'urgence exige une intervention immédiate.

Abandon d’animaux laissés dans une souffrance extrême
Nous déplorons l’inaction des services de la Direction départementale de la protection des populations (DDPP) de Vendée, qui ont laissé les animaux souffrir sans assistance tout un week-end. Cet abandon traduit une carence grave dans l’application des règles minimales concernant les conditions d'élevage des animaux et les interventions en cas d'urgence.
L214 porte plainte auprès du procureur de la République de La Roche-sur-Yon contre les services vétérinaires pour leur manquement grave aux règles de protection animale. Leur inaction pendant trois jours a laissé des animaux blessés dans un état de souffrance extrême et évitable, relevant ainsi de faits de complicité d’abandon et de mauvais traitements.
L214 a prévenu la DDPP de Vendée ce lundi matin à 9 h, après avoir été mise au courant de la situation. Elle exhorte les services vétérinaires à secourir sans délai les animaux piégés dans le bâtiment et à leur apporter les soins que leur état requiert.
Pas de sortie de secours pour les animaux
Pour Sébastien Arsac, cofondateur de L214, « Pas de sortie de secours pour les animaux dans les élevages intensifs ! Ce drame démontre une fois de plus l'ignominie de ce modèle d’élevage qui repose sur une souffrance animale systématique.
Circonstance aggravante : l'incapacité des services vétérinaires à intervenir efficacement pour limiter les souffrances évitables des animaux quand l’urgence l’exige.
Ce nouvel épisode catastrophique illustre une fois de plus l’urgence de changer de modèle agricole. Les élevages intensifs sont une source sans fin de souffrance pour les animaux. Nous appelons les décideurs politiques et les professionnels du secteur à agir pour bâtir un système alimentaire qui ne repose plus sur la souffrance de millions d’animaux, jour après jour. »

Heute, 19 Uhr wird die Ausstellung "Verrückt nach Fleisch" im Museum Brot und Kunst eröffnet. Neben Werken von Pieter Breughel, Hörner/Antlfinger, Pascal Dreier, Max Liebermann, Neozoon und anderen Künstler*innen, wird auch mein Gemälde "Hügel II" gezeigt.
