  1. Listening to a BBC Sounds podcast, "The Rise and Fall of #Madchester", has got me back into the music of the #StoneRoses.

That in turn has got me back into playing #BassGuitar. Which has made me realise that my little fingers are far too puny to hold down fat bass strings.

So I'm trying to use my grip strength trainer with just my ring (for balance) and little fingers.

Anyway, I can recommend bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/p0ftp7p as a listen.

  6. Det är fascinerande vilken otrolig påverkan musik har på ens uppväxt och liv. Hur viss musik träffar en mitt i hjärtat och etsar sig fast tillsammans med minnen från olika faser i livet. 🥹❤️ #Stoneroses #LiamGallagher

  7. Are you solid, are you solid as a rock?

Have you a strong foundation? Can your soul be bought?

It ain't true that everybody's got a price

I sing this song for everyone who stands up for their rights

    Every brother is a star

    Every sister is a star

Sister Rosa, Malcolm X, and Dr. King

Showed us we got power, showed what changes we could bring

To change society, you have got to change the law

Their bodies may be gone, but their spirits still live on

  8. Just was made aware that the #StoneRoses innovative #BritPop bass player Mani passed away. His fluid & funky Rickenbacker 4005 basslines helped form a unique sonic perspective, adding dance floor sensibilities to their psychedelic pop pastiche, that helped make their early records so refreshing, influential and successful.

Gary "Mani" Mounfield's "baggy" style of string plucking is clearly noticeable on records like "She Bangs the Drums" and "I Am the Resurrection"...The Stone Roses' split in mid 90's after the 5 year drug addled wait for only their 2nd album, and Mani soon joined another key UK scene band, Primal Scream where his work was lauded with NME's tongue in cheek "Godlike Genius Award" in 2007. He stayed with #PrimalScream thru 2011 and later he reunited with the 'Roses on some 21st century farewell tours and recordings.

The Stone Roses'very first break thru music videos in 1989 were shot far from their #Madchester home base, thousands of miles away in the Canary Islands on the volcanic landscapes of #Lanzarote...and Mani can be seen with the lads backing up the hazy #AcidHouse era arrogance of lead vocalist Ian Brown in the clips shown here.

Here embedded in the linked page they are performing "Fool’s Gold” and “I Wanna Be Adored,” ...
