A few weeks back @jillswan10 and I ran a carving day together, I started this spoon from a bent piece of Cherry.
It's got alternating facets and curves, that really blend well for the eye, much more pleasing in person than the photos, and sometimes life if just like that.

This glorious piece of Cherry makes me smile so very much, the last of three spoons from this one billet I had, all the rest of the log looks like Cherry I'm used to.

Being as Birch (Betula pendula) is so soft, it can be particularly tough to get clean facets on.
So I challenged myself to get 16 flat facets, around the length of the handle following into the back of the Spoon, incorporating both concave and convex lines.
I had to highlight them by adding some ground cinnamon to highlight the grain and ridges, before burnishing.

Added the handle and made a sheath for this @nic_westermann Swan neck gouge.
Was so happy with how it all came out, then realised the ferrule should attach flush with the bottom of the handle, here's hoping its not a big deal, I will use it for a while if it's an issue I will add a ring of epoxy to blend it to the handle, as a fix, if that doesn't work as a patch, then I will rehandle it completely.
