  1. This is important for creating controlled #stimuli in #PsycholinguisticStudies. There is no single "correct" population providing the "best" iconicity ratings. Instead, context and target populations really matter! So, careful what you base your control variables on.

  2. There's nothing more #cringe than #reacting. Oh you mean the natural result of #stimuli? Don't film that for #YouTube. Get a #job ya bum

  3. Intelligent behavior includes the ability to respond selectively to #stimuli with higher value. This study reveals where & how in the murine neural hierarchy the transition from a map of stimulus location to a map of stimulus value occurs @PLOSBiology plos.io/4jgxnKZ

  4. #Zoomposium with Professor Dr. John-Dylan #Haynes: “In search of the #code of the #brain

In order to carry out #Brain #reading large amounts of #data are collected from the #fMRI #scans of the test subjects. The main areas examined are visual #perception, visual #imagination, short-term #memories, subliminal #stimuli, romantic #feelings, #impulse control and unconscious #inclinations.

  5. I recently got a question about some nice 3D humanoid stimuli we used in an old study, which came from the university technical department at the time. But they're really easy to make yourself independently if you don't have such a department!

A nice intro-tutoral on posing 3D models in Blender here: rhkibria.medium.com/how-to-pos.

And there are places shop for pre-made, posable models, e.g., cgtrader.com/3d-models/charact

  6. @shaun I find people generally #stressful, in addition to other factors like #sounds, #overlapping #speech, etc. While I enjoy interacting with people, the circumstances are stressful/ #draining. Online #community is very helpful, since it avoids the triggers. But it does lack other positive #stimuli.

    The joys of being #neurodivergent and #actuallyautistic ! 🤣🎉

  11. CW: Basic Autism description

@RenoirDana @actuallyautistic When I consider what I’ve read of #autism, the bottom line is the #physiological #variances in our brain and nervous systems result in noticeable #divergence in how we #process #stimuli and respond to the world around us. Indeed everyone has sone differences. But #NT is just the a range of variance that calibrates to #normative #expectation. That we should be made to feel badly about our difference is the problem.
