I was working on a Chemistry simulation for students, when a debugging tool (that I had developed for myself) looked cool to me and I kept playing with it. That led to me finding my voice as an artist and creating variations on this piece.

Most of the messages folks send me, when they're signing up for my #StickersAndStamps project, are wonderful.

Some are very odd, like this recent one: "I want a nice tattoo not one that is too ugly".

This person looked at the photo of the temporary tattoo designs I was giving away, requested that I send one, and then added this comment to their request.

The comment was so odd that I had to just laugh through the insult. Ha!

Walked these envelopes to the Post Office today. They all have stickers in them, some have my new Minnesota flag stickers in them.

If folks keep signing up, I'll keep mailing them out. Sending out little moments of joy, and tracking USPS delivery times one letter at a time.

@thebiologistisn @rspfau @tillmanreuter Totally understandable. For my #StickersAndStamps project, I've become comfortable with some level of "data loss". But starting with a few trusted folks, with just a few beans/seeds each, you might eventually get to a surprisingly delightful place. :)

I walked a batch of envelopes for my #StickersAndStamps project, with most of them heading overseas. As I get to the post office, I'm shocked to find that out of the several drop off boxes that used to be out front, there is only one left. And it was too full to add my letters to. So I had to take them inside.

I asked where they went. "They took those away". I ask when. "Long time ago". That's it, no explanation or actual timing. The have not been gone for long. Disturbing.

Ok. This project has, until now, been mostly focused on Mail Delivery Time within the US.

But now, it seems that I need to expand my research to include how hard it is to send a letter to someone in the US from outside the US.

To clarify, the difficulty is not about sending a package. It's about sending a letter on paper in a paper envelope from a country outside of the US to me inside of the US.

Not packages. Jut a letter in an envelope.

A participant in my #StickersAndStamps project went to their local post office, in France, and were told that they couldn't send a letter in an envelope to the US. This person was sending the letter to me from France.

Edited to add: THIS IS NOT NORMAL!!!

So letters *should* not be impacted.

But as of a few days ago, one of the participants in my #StickersAndStamps project was told, at his local post office, that he could not send a letter to me from France.

I'll keep sending out letters and stickers, as long as I can afford to do so. Which is probably another month or so? International mail costs a lot more than domestic mail, so it's hard to predict when I'll run out of stamps.

Would any of the wonderful folks who have participated in my #StickersAndStamps project be interested in helping me collect data on sending mail TO me in the US?

What could I do to make it easier for you?

I'm considering asking folks who have participated in my #StickersAndStamps, from outside of the US, to attempt to mail an envelope back to me. Take it to your post office, and if they tell you that letters to the US are blocked, then send me a postcard that says "Letters to the US are blocked from my country, so I'm sending you a postcard instead"...with the date and city/country you mail it from.

Today, a letter arrived in my PO Box from Argentina, as part of my #StickersAndStamps project. I don't know what this little envelope went through, but it looks like it'd been through a lot. Possibly stuck in a sorting machine at some point?

It took over five months to get here.

I just made my post about these sticky notes and my #StickersAndStamps project public.

The idea is that I send some of these out to folks who request them as part of my #StickersAndStamps project, and they stick them up in places where people can see them.
